We stayed at the Caribe Beach Resort (also Best Western). While it is not 5 star, we found it great for one night. We were able to walk to it, had a decent dinner at the bar. Staff was very accomidating. It was priced very reasonable. I think we paid $190 for a Friday night. It does not have a beach, but you can use Emerald.

The nicer of the 2 is the one NOT the closest to the airport. When I was there in December on my boating trip, one of the guys on the boat was staying at the closer one and we were at the other one. We dropped him off first and we were helping him with his bags so I went inside. He then forgot his folder in the taxi so he and my hubby ran around the hotel to stop the driver. Meanwhile, I was talking to the lady at the front desk telling her that when I booked my room for the night, I thought it was for that hotel, not the one just down the road. She, the employee, told me the other one was nicer so I had lucked out. Our friend ended up coming down to our Best Western a little later on to join us for dinner and he said his place was nothing great but he could handle it for a night and that ours was definitely nicer. (Hell, we'd been on a boat for a week; I felt like I was staying at the Ritz.) Anyone, there was just one problem. We had a very early flight the next morning, around 7:00 a.m. so when we got up to head out, there was no one at the front desk. The place was completely closed up and deserted. The only thing we could do was to make the walk to the airport, bags in tow. So, if you have an early morning flight, make sure you make the necessary arrangments. Of course the walk didn't kill me, but carrying our bags and it was dark.....I wouldn't want to have to do it again. (And not one taxi ever even passed by us.) (Final note, my recollection is that it was about $150.00 for the night.) Ali~
