All I can say is that this has been an AWESOME fest weekend! This group was so much fun! I have laughed my a$$ off the entire weekend!

Sadly, Kellyanna had to leave this morning and didn't make it to the fest for us but kept telling us we had to eat a Cuban Sandwhich for her. I think I created a new habit for her.

I am gonna let the travellers fill you in on most of it so you can hear about it from there eyes, all I know is that I love hearing Rick and Chrisitne talking about "next year" when they come they are gonna bring...

Hopefully we have started a new tradition and will all end up on island at the same time too!

We were treated like royalty! Cat, Kenneth, Nothintolose & and her man exhibited hospitality you don't find anywhere else. Personal drivers are AWESOME (had to use the word)! I had the best time! Thank you.

Neat sheets work for emergency rain cover (for about 3 hours and then they begin to lose their repellant feature).

I've got some pics and will post later. Got to spend time w/ my family. Have been out of town a lot.

Jazz Fest was bigger than life!

Today was a TON of fun! It wasn't raining when we got up this morning and the first hour or so at the Fest was fairly dry. Then came the rain! A torrential downpour! But we were prepared with ponchos and raincoats today and we just waited it out. It cleared up just in time for Elvis Costello and it was gorgeous the rest of the day... except for the 2" deep mud in places! :D

Here are some pictures I took!

LAST NIGHT AT DINNER (sorry it's blurry, the waitress took it, but she took the same picture with everyone's camera, so maybe someone else has a better picture)
Left to right: Kenneth, Cat, Kellee, Me, Mike & Jan (in front), Jerry & Elizabeth (standing), RickG eating crawfish and Christine, who really IS sweet! :D

I'll post all my pictures to pbase later this week and when I do, I'll post a link here. Jazz Fest was super fantastic and I'm SO GLAD I came! We all got along so great and had such a fun time!

Tomorrow it's back to California for me, and back to Virginia for Rick & Christine and Jan & Mike. I think we all need a rest! :D

Ahhh, the pleasure continues. We just got back from Acme Oyster House for another round of the raw, the charbroiled and the fried. Ahhh, yes, the sensuous and seductive slippery pleasures of the oyster. A perfect food, I say. And any mon who contests, by his words he is revealed a cretin.

This has been an awesome trip with forum friends. These people really are as much fun in person as online.

I'm glad everyone had so much fun! It was a truly memorable Jazz Fest! I loved sharing it with all of you!

I will never forget playing in the rain the past 2 days! Commandeering the port-o-lets to stay out of the rain! Great music! Great food! Great friends! What a wonderful way to spend the weekend!

We are on again for next year!!!!!!!! Last weekend of April 2009! Hopefully it won't rain!!!!

I promise to post pics once I get them together!

1 - You guys all clean up so nice. Its so funny to "know" people from STJ pics and then see them so dignified for dinner ('cept you Rick!).

2 - I can forgive the Beignets & Cafe au Lait, but not the Elvis Costello experience.

SO so so so Jealous.

Christine and I heard from CAGirl and Jan&MikeVA this morning. They were at Cafe du Monde early. We have an earlier flight and will have to settle for Cafe du Monde at the airport.

It took about one lap of Jazz Fest to learn the nothingtolose strategy for maximizing the experience. We went around the race track to avoid the crowds and met on the perimeter of the stages. It worked out nicely. The herd only moves at the speed of the slowest beast, but we just met up at certain times for bands and feasting and were able to cover most of the bands and foods across the group. Christine and I pulled the Pilsener Urquell consumption responsibilities.

Dignified for dinner? You couldn't hear Kellyana getting sassy and the rest of the gang getting bawdy while I was in Crawish destruction mode! We were having a ball and the crawfish were the best I'd had in my life. I woke up the next morning wanting more.

This experience would not have been nearly as good without our local friends. They hooked us up and showed us the local's way to do it.

Cheers, RickG
