Villa booked - scary flight prices!

Post by lisak428 »

OK, so we've booked Waterlemon Villa for 11/22-11/29 (Thanksgiving week). Yippee! So excited to get back (we were just there this past Christmas) and Waterlemon Villa looks great!! Anybody have any first hand info?
However, the nonstop Continental flight that we take out of Newark is at $1024 right now!! OUCH! The lowest price out there is about $710. So, do we hold out in hopes of these prices coming down a bit (they have jumped up drastically over the last couple weeks) or do we bite the bullet and act now? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Lisa

I would be inclined to take the $710. I booked for July 26-Aug 2 and the price from Kentucky was $623 RT.

Congrats on booking your trip! I've been tracking Newark to STT since December on yapta.com. They have gone as low as 318 on American. Thanksgiving week may be tougher since it's a premium week. I suggest tracking several flights on Yapta and booking it as soon as it gets to a price you're comfortable with. With the cost of gas prices, I wouldn't wait too long. We are paying $500 from PHL to STT.

Good luck!

I'm tracking it on Yapta. Unfortunately, since last week when I started tracking, it has only gone up!! I'm afraid that it may never come down again!

islandgirl, very cool! I'll look for the forum shirt. The 4 hours is worth it because at the end, our destination is amazing St. John (sorry, St. Thomas, I just bypass you in my mind). Vacation soon come :)

I'd probably keep watching fares for a little while longer, that's a crazy price!! I don't think I'd hold out too much longer though.

We were very lucky with our airfare from Boston. We'll be there from 11/29-12/6 and I got r/t tickets for $270 a couple months back which is almost half of what we paid for our trip in June of 06. We didn't think we were going to get back to the VI's until next June but thanks to this great deal we're going back sooner than planned!!

Good luck with your airfare!! :)

We booked a direct flight out of JFK on American for $318 just last week for travel the week of Dec. 6th. The flights seem to be cheaper out of JFK if you're willing to change your departure city. Keep checking back at different times during the day and night. The rates may be low for only a short period. Good luck.

I noticed that also. 475 from JFK for those dates! Even PHL is cheaper than EWR. Forget LGA, way too high, plus most for their flights have 2 changes!! NO WAY!!!

I'm 1 hour from EWR and 1+ from PHL and JFK, I have no problem flying out of anyone of those when it comes to vacation......... Oh and can't forget about good ole' Atlantic City Int'l! Must change plans though!

I just read an article in the paper yesterday about Airlines being impacted by fuel prices...and reducing their offerings and increasing prices as a result...not looking good at this point...

I'm Yapta-ing flights from Chicago for early June and it's not looking good for us either, though better than for you (but non-stop is not an option). I'm seeing anything from about $550 to $1023 right now. I think we're going to wait just a little longer, but don't really have much time to spare.

JeanneB I'm going the same week as you 11/29-12/6 leaving out of Boston.
We are probably on the same flight because I got the same deal. I wasn't going to go at that time but like you I couldn't pass up a deal like that.
