Hitchhikers on St. John
For many years when my elderly Mother would come visit me she could not wait to take a ST John trip because we would hitchhike around for the day. She thought it was just a hoot - she had never hitched before! The last ferry then was at 5 PM so it was sometimes a mad dash but the locals in their jeeps would pick up everyone so they wouldn't miss the boat and be stuck.

Greetings All;
We saw the "Caribbean Pyros" @ the beach bar w/ "Shoot for Tuesday". Kids 14,12,& 10 thought it was pretty neat, although he did drop the firestick twice in ankle deep water-relight required.
We took our two and a nephew that night giving my brother and his wife a liitle time to have a dinner together. Knowing we had to kill some time I took some flashlights for the kid to spot land/ghost crabs and explore a bit nocturnally. We stopped for ice cream and finally needing a bit more time went over to the customs dock-saw the same large boat with tramsom lights in the water and we again saw several very large barracuda circling in the glow of the lights. About that time several large bats began swooping by getting I suppose the insects drawn to the light as well. My son asked me if I thought the bats was aware of the barracudas or vice versa. We pondered that one for awhile...It is always interesting in St John.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that the name could just maybe possibly have absolutely nothing to do with food.mrsb wrote:Sandwich..... what people will name their children![]()
I can just imagine the back story.
At least it wasn't hoagie, or grinder or panini.
But...that's just me. I'm often picking my mind up from the gutter.
