Larlar trip report..last day

Post by larlardb8 »

Well I def. qualify for the worst trip reporter..I do one, get busy...then it's days until my next installment..but this is the last one!
So here is our last day.

Last Full Day:
Woke up today to cloudy skies and rain. Sun looked like it was trying to come out so we packed up the jeep with beer and lunch. Stopped off at the deli grotto for breakfast sandwiches. While eating breakfast the floodgates opened and it poured! We had planned on doing waterlemon today so we waited around and did a bit of shopping until the rain stopped. D bought a really nice book full of STJ photographs that is on his coffee table now. :D

Rain stopped so we headed over to Waterlemon. We were planning on walking the trail to the beach and then swimming over from there.

Got to the beach and it started to get overcast and drizzle again. What the heck!?! Swam out and did see some pretty good stuff..but visibility was pretty low. Bummer. Current was a bit strong and the clouds were getting darker so we headed in and decided that the sun MUST come out if we head back to our fav. beach...Maho.
Headed back to Maho and no sooner did we get on the beach and it started to downpour!!! Nooo! It's our last day!
Decided to head back to the condo to relax for a bit and shower, etc. Might as well start happy hour a few hours early! Made some appetizers and hung out for a while.
Headed down into town for our last night out. Were pretty full from appetizers so just headed to High Tides for a drink. Left there and walked over to the Beach Bar. Chatted with the bartender for a while. She gives us free drink! Guy sitting next to us works at High Tides and says "let's all do a shot"! Cheers all around. Oh no it's a shot of Grand Marnier. (bad memories of GM on my 21st!) haha...
 Very nice guy though!
Hung out there for a while longer and called it a night...

Wake up the next morning and have to leave...ew. Dropped the car off and got breakfast at JJ's. Very greasy..prob was good though as I needed it to soak up all the alcohol from the week! Took the ferry to Charlotte Amalie and had a taxi driver hold the luggage as our flight wasn't until 430ish. Walked around town for a bit. Got lunch at this little tiny side street outdoor place that I can't remember the name of. Had a blue cheese wedge and it was great. Chatted with a couple who were staying at the Marriott and were actually on the New Horizons day trip the same day as us.
Headed over to the airport. Check-in and customs was a breeze. Uneventful flight back to Newark (got cheaper tickets going back to there instead of Philly). D's dad was awesome and picked us up and our vaca was officially over.

Sad to be leaving

But on a brighter note. My parents have been really wanting to do a family trip and after we got back we had them over for drinks and picture showing. I think that made them want to go even more because not even a week later we had booked a trip for June. :D
So we are getting to go down WAY sooner than we thought...which makes it that much more special!!
Will be the five of us in June (mom (CathyS), dad, brother and D).
Hope to meet up with some people at the Beach Bar this time!!

You are so lucky to be going twice in one year (or even sooner than that). Thanks for your reports I really enjoyed them. We will be on STJ 6/21-6/28.

A return trip already booked! That is the perfect ending to a trip report. Thanks so much for sharing with us.
