Rock beaches

Post by Pianogrl »

What is the best way to get in & out of the rock beaches?....with your fins on?...swim shoes on?....
I'm sure there are sea urchins among those rocks so just wondered what you experienced snorkelers/swimmers used on your feet getting in & out.

John and I wear water shoes into the water at rocky beaches. Once we are in and treading water, John throws our shoes up onto the beach, or I tow them behind me on a cord. Even water shoes won't protect you from the urchins, so you still have to watch carefully.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Sport sandals such as Teva or other brand that have a non-slip bottom, grippy soles, and adjustable straps. Ones that float are nice, too.

It makes it a little harder to kick, but if you're just doing a casual snorkel, not a hardcore swim, you should be fine.
