just thought I would share something fun. Jay and I are sailing to St. Croix today with a friend. We'll be posting to the blog all weekend so make sure to check it out.

St. Croix - first couple of days...
I know this is primarily a STJ board, but just to add a little VI variety...we’ve been on STX since Wednesday evening, staying on the east end over Teague Bay at a lovely villa called EastWinds. Had something called an "8 to 1" at the airport welcome kiosk - 8 parts Cruzan Rum Cream to 1 part Cruzan Vanilla Rum (stir or shake lightly over ice) - very yummy.
Woke up to this view on Thursday morning –

Someone please pick up the little guy from the dog-sitter and bring him down – we might be staying!! His name is “Snow” - wonder how he would feel about being re-named “Sandy”?
Toured a beautiful villa today, Sugar Bay House, over Salt Pond and Columbus Landing Beach. Gorgeous place with a very personable caretaker who showed us around - very evident that he loved the place - who wouldn't!

Had lunch in Cane Bay at Off the Wall – great food (they have an brand new brick pizza oven and the new pizzas are great!); lots of folks from Chicago and Wisconsin. Three beautiful bikes there – looked like an HD Sportster, an HD Fat Boy, and a grape colored custom “something” – not sure, but it was clear the three lucky owners were having a great time on the STX roads.

Stopped at Gentle Winds on the way back east and had a drink at their beach shack. Met a very friendly young bartender who told personal hurricane tales dating back to when he was a child (actually, not that long ago) and really discussed the island with us. We were thoroughly enjoying our conversation until some folks from KC showed up at the bar and threw down a challenge to him to make four “wonderful” pina coladas for a tip to be determined by how good they were compared to what they could get in Kansas City. Sorry, but this kind of stuff always turns me off in the islands. Someone needs to package lessons on how to at least pretend to "get it" and not look like a stateside yokel - could probably make a fortune on that DVD...

We're really enjoying the great weather - very breezy where we are staying - haven't seen a 'skeeto or had a no-see-um bite yet!

How long will it take you to get to STX? I'm planning to take the morning ferry from STT to STX on 5/3 to catch a friend doing the 1/2 iron man and then return to STT (and then back to STJ) on the late afternoon the next day. I'm told its about a 90 minute ferry ride; seem right? Well, have a great sail. I hope you're pinching yourself regularly so you know this new life of yours is for real. Enjoy!!!! Ali~
