If you can get something in buildings 1, 2, or 3, they're the best. If you're looking out toward the ocean from Gallows Point, they're the 3 units farthest to your left.

They are away from the harbor noise, close to the water and look out at beautiful Pillsbury Sound (body of water between St. John and St. Thomas). Beautiful sunsets.

So nice to be able to sit on your deck or balcony and watch the water, sailboats, etc. Very nice.

Gallows

Post by ScottB »

Just got back from Gallows, and we absolutely loved 9A which is an ocean view lower.

I think it depends on your tastes as to which you might like better. The upper suites will definitely have a better view, but cost more. We liked being close to the pool, and also being able to just walk out the door, and be pool/ocean side within a few steps.

The lower number units are spread out away from the pool area, and will have awesome views, but it'll be a little stroll to the pool. The Harbor side units are nice, but the ferry boats might be a bit noisy for some.

I'd recommend checking out suitestjohn.com. There is a map of the resort, and you can see exactly where each unit sits on the property.

Hope this helps a bit.

This was the view from unit 1 lower on 4/15/06. Thats unit 3 on the right out on a little "point".

At the risk of sounding like an old fart, we were glad not to be near the pool as the kids in the pool can get loud.

Go with 9A or any 9 unit. Great views with the doors open. Plus you just walk out and you're at the pool. I believe Suite St John owns another one in that building. They own 11 overall so do as Scott says and check out their website suitestjohn.com

I am with JMQ, I would much rather be away from the pool and have it quiet

Actually, we've never had noise from the pool and that's even during carnival when Gallows rents to many USVI's locals with kids who come over for the parade and a vacation.

Being right in front of the pool all week, never heard a single voice....not once. I actually never saw a child on the premises the entire stay. The only complaints of noise came from those staying on the bay side, and said you will hear the bar music at night, along with the ferries in the early morning. But please don't think the pool area is noisy, as most of the time, it was either empty, and only 3-4 people around. Very quiet resort for sure. I really don't think you can wrong no matter what you decide at Gallows.

Keep in mind that if you rent directly from Gallows, they will (NOT) guarantee a room choice. But if you rent through Suite ST John, you are guaranteed to get the unit you requested. This was a no brainer for us....

We stayed in building #4, upper and loved it. The view was gorgeous.
We didn't see many kids there last June. I remember hearing animal noises (frogs or crickets), but never people. There is not a bad view in the whole place. I personaly prefer the ocean view rather than the harbor view.
Have a great time. You will love it.

We'd stayed in 8C on our first visit - pretty close to the pool - it was FANTASTIC!

The end of May we go back and are staying in 3C - we wanted to try something a little different - on the end...BUT...

I don't think there is any bad place at Gallows - all seem to have SPECTACULAR VIEWS!!!!!
Peace,

Lisa

This is actually 2C. I looked back at my paperwork from this vacation to confirm this.
I think all views from Gallows are great!

There seems to be a lot of Gallows Point lovers out there. I've always thought you get more for you money in a villa. Do you get a vehicle when you stay at Gallows?

You do not get a free vehicle with Gallows. Are you saying do you get one with most villas? I've not heard of that before!!!
One of the many great things about Gallows is you don't NEED a car everyday (although we get one for our entire stay). Where most villas, you must have a car.

The thing we LOVE about Gallows is... EVERYTHING!

Everyone likes different thngs on a vacation - I love the feel of being at Gallows - with people (not tons of them ;-)) around - it's a little more "festive" to me - so a villa would not be for me. I love daily maid service - I do not want to make my bed - yet want my bed made daily - along with my bathroom shiny and clean with shampoo, soap & lotion & TOWELS replenished daily (more than daily if necessary), etc ... so a villa would not be for me. (Side note: we LOVE to camp - and then I don't mind the "doing" - but that is a different kind of vacation for us).
Peace,

Lisa

Cool, we do need 4WD vehicles with most of the villas we rent. I understand the allure of a more-of-a-resort experience. Too bad they don't have a clothing optional beach. Now, that I CAN do at a villa!
