I'm sitting here at work (not working) listening to Kenny C and cannot stop thinking about our trip! Man, I have "short-timer" disease...as they say "Good things come so slow, but go so fast!"

We'll look for you at the BB. I'll yell "O-H" and wait for you...

Hey 17th hole... I-O! Unfortunately we won't be there until mid June so will have to shout it here.

We're 100 miles south of you on I-71... Both my kids are grads of OSU, youngest is in his first year of grad school there, just finished his 4th year as a sousaphone player in TBDBITL... I assume you know what that means...
/Brag on
Yes, he dotted the i this past fall at the Shoe! Very cool!
/Brag off

Sorry to go OT for those that won't appreciate it, but dotting is a big deal for Buckeye fans, competition is fierce... Script Ohio was voted the most memorable college tradition in some sort of poll, heard Musberger say that more than once during bowl game coverage but can't tell you where it was...
now back to your regularly scheduled forum...

irbgolfin,
Captnkirk & I will try our best to leave our "Buckeye" mark on the Beach Bar. Congrats on your son dotting the i! Maybe you can post a pic so the rest of the forum will see how big a deal that is! Which game was it at?

17th hole... Kent St. The pics have one shortcoming, you don't get to hear 100,000+ of your closest friends as the drum major leads the i-dotter from the o... Even before he was in TBDBITL, seeing the script was a thrill, and I'm not an OSU grad... been to about 25 or so games the last 4 years while he was in band, nothing better than watching the ramp and the script, and I'm sure you can imagine how special the Kent St. game was for us... He's been to StJ but won't be with us this trip, probably a good thing, wouldn't want to embarrass him, but I think he's used to it, comes up regularly, he made it on a couple of radio shows, and when he's interned there's always a Buckeye around that he drops the line about dotting (in the past, the future dot, next intern, it's happened), never fails to get a WHAT? You're kidding!!!

Aside from dotting, being in TBDBITL gave him some great experiences... 4 bowl trips, 3 of them BCS, presidential inaugural parade, meeting Jack Nicklaus (who sent handwritten thank you notes to each sousaphone player, class act!) 2 trips to the Big House in M*ch*g*n - well, I don't know if he'd call that a good thing but it was WAAAAY better than the trip to Penn St... guess I'll shut up now as whatever I say will tick someone off...

In case anyone is curious, here's a link for those not familiar with Script Ohio...

http://tbdbitl.osu.edu/?action=a074

Pics below, first shot is script from home side, he's on opposite... That's Tony on the scoreboard... Big class this year, 9 eligible, only 3 got singles...

Hey 17th Hole and CptnKirk,
I see you guys are from Ohio and are Buckeyes fans. We are too! And let me tell you living in Pa. and not being Penn State fans, we take a lot of crap!. But our friends that are HUGE Penn State fans are LIVID that "we" got Pryor. Penn State wanted him in the worst way...So, Go Bucks!! (I have a CD of the marching band. I know.. what a dork..)

irbgolfin,
I was at the Kent State game! So, I guess I saw your son dot the i that day! Heh...small world!

We're going to be leaving island on May 10th so I won't be able to meet everyone at the BB on the 11th, but I'm sure everyone who works there will be talking about the two guys from Ohio!

To bevm,

A CD? :-)

I have a few (something to play on the drives between Cincinnati and Columbus - between 2 kids in college, games, etc., we're at 100+ roundtrips the past 7 seven years), as well as DVDs of 4 seasons of band performances, they are produced for band members. Haven't sat down and watched a lot, but now and then I stick one in and watch a ramp and a script, pretty cool.

Guess a bunch of us have more in common than just going to StJ, eh?

Go Bucks!

And raise a toast to the forum folks and the Bucks at (pick one - BB, Skinny's, Island Blues, etc) after a great day of snorkeling at one of the north shore beaches, at least that's what I'll do... in June... soon come...

I arrive 5/2 but am making a quick trip over to STX on 5/3 to cheer on a friend doing the 1/2 ironman. I'll be coming back to STJ on Sunday night but probably not in time for the BB. I'll be thinking of you all. Have a great time at the gathering. Cheers, Ali~
