Short TR to BVI and STJ --- PICS ADDED

Post by pjayer »

Here's a link to a few shots from last week's visit to VI. I don't like Kodak's format, but it's the best I could do. Hope it works, since I've spent most of the day swearing at the computer.

Hello, everyone! I've regressed to lurking for the past few months, and, like a bear in hibernation, I'm just now waking up and ready to join the forum again. Here's my very short trip report.

We were on a spring break cruise with our 15-year-old daughter last week. On Thursday, John Brandi picked us up on Tortola for a day trip. We were the only 3 snorkelers at the Indians. What a treat! We spent the rest of the day like sloths drinking painkillers and beer at The Soggy Dollar, while the kids swam and jumped on the water trampoline. We had been looking forward to this day for weeks and weeks. Needless to say, Capt. John didn't disappoint. It was the best day of the week for all of us.

The next day, we took a ferry from RH to STJ where we snorkeled and swam at Trunk for a couple of hours. We left around noon because it was a bit crowded. (Damn those cruisers! ) Had delicious shark bites and mahi-mahi at Woody's washed down with a couple of VI Summer Ales, then did a bit of shopping at Mongoose Junction and STJ Spice. At the last minute, the daughter decided to run over to The Beach Bar for tuna bites, and we almost missed the ferry. Unfortunately, she returned in time to board. :(

Now, here's the best part. We all agree (including daughter) that we want to return to STJ in July. Yippee! :D So,I'm sure I'll be asking your advice on villas, etc. soon.

P.S. - It's been so long since I've added pics, I'm going to have to figure it out again. I'll try to add a few later.

Neat photos! How did you make that bubble effect on the last one? It looks really cool.

Thanks, liamsaunt and kygirl.

The feature is under "Edit", "Fun Effects" on Kodak EasyShare.

We are thinking about doing the ferry from STJ to Jost in June - but I thought my 16 and 20 year olds may be board at White Bay/Beach - but your kids looked like they were having fun. Does it cost extra to use the trampoline and other toys? Thanks,

The trampoline was $5.00 for as long as they wanted to use it. They had fun, but we're beach people and are happy doing nothing as long as there's sand and water. They swam, ate, bought a t-shirt, played the ring game (which isn't too exciting imho), and enjoyed the hammocks for awhile. It's fun to watch the people too. I asked my daughter today if she wanted to go back to White Bay, and she said yes, if that helps any.

believe it or not when we were there 2 summers ago my son got it hooked on the first try. The crowd bet him he couldn't do it again - he did after about 50 tries.

Thanks, we are beach people also, so I think they could manage to have fun for the day.

Great shots! I have never snorkeled the Indians but after looking at your photos I might request that as a stop on our day trip this year. Thanks!
