Does this surprise anyone? In every industry that relies directly on gas, they have had to cut corners and morale has to be super low.

I think the airline industy now has the worst customer serivce then any other service type of company. We really do not have many options as to who fly anymore so they really don't care.

Last year our bags were not on our connecting flight. We hung around the airport in Tortolla for the next flight in from San Juan and thank goodness they were on that flight. Nearly missed the last ferry over to Virgin Gorda.

Poor airline service is nothing new! When I first started in travel in 1986 I asked my predecessor which airline was the best to recommend to clients. She said "one is as bad as another". In 15 yrs in the travel business I never saw anything that proved her wrong.

But there it sat at the gate in Newark, marker lights flashing, interior cabin lit up,doors open and ready to receive us...for four freakin' hours BEcauuuuuuuuse the "only available flight crew" was on the ground in Portland, Maine!

Another Newark favorite of mine is getting to sit in a "parked" aircraft for 45 minutes way out on the tarmack in an obviously designated "parking area" (this must happen ALL the time) while a gate is made available.

The only part I like about flying is takeoff and landing. The rest s****.

The last few flights I've been on, a steward has actually come down the aisle wanting to shake hands: "thank you for flying with us."

Silly.

Plus---keep those germs to yourself !
