Car ferry return to STT: How early should they leave?

Post by DiverDrew »

We'll be over next month! (can't express how good it feels to say that)

My folks are coming in separately. Continental messed around their 'direct' return flight and they now have to connect through San Juan, leaving STT at noon.

They will have a rental car that they have to return to Dependable prior to checking in for their flight.

What time should they target to get the car ferry from STJ to Red Hook to allow them to check-in comfortably (i.e. not rushed)?

Thanks for your help.

I'd opt for the 8:00 Am that way if it's full they will get on the 8:30 and still have a good shot of hitting the airport by 10:00AM

We had a 12:15 flight last time and caught the 8:30 car barge. Dropped the car off at Dependable, were at the airport before 10 and cleared security by 10:15.

To not be rushed, I would say the 8am at the very latest. That would have you arriving at Red Hook by 8:45am (if it leaves on time) to the airport by 9:20am, return the car and get to check in by 9:45am (ish) And if we are talking about a Saturday return flight 10am would be the absolute latest I would be at the airport - so not much "wiggle" room even on the 8am.
