sweet plantains question
sweet plantains question
Hi. I am trying to decide where we should eat after my son gets married. We are staying on the eastend so I thought maybe not Cruz Bay area since it would be after dark.
My son likes fine dining and appreciates nice presentation. They will still be dressed in their wedding attire. His bride to be is a little more finicky when it comes to eating. She likes chicken and pasta type meals, but isn't really adventurous about trying new food. Is Sweet Plantains not a good idea for that reason. How about Chateau Bordeaux, I haven't heard much about that lately? I read somewhere the new dining area at Concordia was considered fine dining-anybody know anything about it? Thanks again for all your help.
If you could think of somewhere not really considered fine dining, but that would still be suitable and we wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb that would be okay, too.

Nice touch Matt
(and btw Matt is fabulous should you decide to hire a private chef - he catered our wedding
)
Should you decide to go with your original idea and go to a restaurant I would not suggest Sweet Plantains if the bride is not adventurous especially as it is "her" day
Having said that, I would not miss eating at Sweet Plantains at least one evening of your trip - Sweet Plantains is our favourite restaurant and we try to eat there at least once per week, the food is amazing but it is not pasta/chicken etc - think East Indian or West Indian curry dishes and the non curry dishes I would describe as having exotic spices in them (and Matt is correct among our favourites are the Ribs yummmy )
Chateau Bordeaux would probably be my choice for something more "normal" - do book in advance though and be prepared to spend $$$$.
I would not say the restaurant at Concordia is "fine dining"
Hope this helps
Pia

We have not tried Sweet Plantains yet, but plan to in May. Here's the menu, if you want to have a look.

I agree about Sweet Plantains probably not being right for someone who is NOT adventurous, although the atmosphere inside is so breezy and perfectly lit and romantic. Sexy.. On second thought, I don't recall that I ate a thing on my own wedding day. If she really didn't care what she ate it might be the perfect place.
Both Concordia and Chateau Bordeaux are going to be a good hike from the East End. Though both would be perfectly nice.
