Larlar trip report day #1
Larlar trip report day #1
FINALLY getting to writing a trip report for all to enjoy. We arrived home last Thursday and had an amazing time.
A little about ourselves:
I have been numerous times to St. John with family but this was my boyfriends first time there. We are both in our late 20s. He is a high school teacher (hence why we went in the end of March-spring break) and I am a nurse. We have been together almost 2 years and this past xmas he surprised me with a trip to STJ. What a great boyfriend. =) We are both super laid back and find it quite easy to let island time take over and get into the STJ groove...
Day #1 March 21st:
Woke up 5am am for a 7:50 flight out of PHL. My mom drove us to the airport and I think she was ready to jump into my suitcase she was so jealous she wasn't going with us. Check-in was a breeze and we were at the gate by 6:30 (this was record time I swear). Security and check-in at Philly is a hit or miss so I wasn't taking any chances!!
Had an uneventful flight to San Juan and a short layover. Got our first drink at the bar right there in the airport while waiting for our flight. Landed in STT RIGHT on time at 1:40pm. I love those type flying days!!

Gathered our luggage and caught a cab to the red hook ferry. Got the 3pm ferry and were off.

We were staying in Cruz Views #1 and the Caribbean villa girl was waiting for us and we picked our car up at Courtesy. Got a 2 door jeep wrangler which was perfect for us. Then stopped at Starfish market for some groceries/beer.
Cruz Views was great. It was perfect for what we needed. Had 1 bedroom and a loft bedroom. Loft bedroom was huge. Views from the deck were awesome. Had AC in bedrooms but we didn't even need it. Came with back pack beach chairs (nice for the beaches you have to hike to). I was worried about noise from the monstrosity that was being built next door but didn't hear a thing all week.

D on the deck:

After some drinks and watched the sunset we headed into town for something to eat. We walked into town every night and cabbed it home. The hill up to the condos is pretty steep. Walking down is easy, but after being out enjoying some drinks its easier to grab a cab home!
Stopped at Woody's for a beer and D liked it right away. Had a drink at High Tides, listened to some music, and chatted with the bartender. Then headed over to Beach Bar for some food. Had some awesome crab dip and a few more beers. Called it a night and grabbed a cab home.
To be continued.....
