Anyone have recent photos of the mega mansion at Peter Bay?

I'm sorry that this thread became something that I had not foreseen. I just wanted to see the progress on this structure that I find beautiful. I do respect the feelings good and not so good about the ideology behind the building. But, to me it isn't any different than when the Westin was built (back then it was a Hyatt) or Gallows or any other large resort. This one just happens to be a private resort. And, to anyone who got upset because of the few negative comments I must say they didn't pay attention to the compliments. That cliff point wasn't that pretty to begin with (no trees, mainly rock), so the landscapers did a good job adding the plantings. To take a rock cliff and create a structure like this (whether it's a resort or private) is a major task and took a lot of planning. No one home will satisfy everyones taste. I hope if the owners, builders or anyone that worked on this project looks at this thread they won't take anything too personal. You might be surprised at all the villa owners who lurk on this forum.

Not to worry, TropicAtHeart! Everyone's opinion counts and we haven't had a good "dust up" around here in a while. It's just that the key word here is "opinion", and when someone takes it personal and attacks others or stoops to name-calling, it affects the whole forum in a very negative way, and that's not necessary

Tropic- The deviation from subject obviously isn't your fault. I see no reason for anyone to say anything bad about this house...or anything else for that reason. I think the achitect, builders, and owners all have something to be very proud of! I can only dream of having an estate this beautiful...

Boy, those people who only read the forum at work are going to have a lot of catching up to do on Monday morning.
It's been an interesting discussion. Even when people have differing opinions or impressions, this is normally a place where those opinions can be discussed.
Name calling will not be tolerated here.
I don't think that any of us needed to stay in school any longer than we did to know that.

WOW! Am i glad i read all 5 pages of this topic before i posted. I think most of the people i know here think of that house as an eyesore but, then again what do i know as i work for the evil empire.

Hey Kirk, glad to see you on the forum. STJ agrees with you. You looked great when last I saw you a couple of weeks ago. Glad the Evil Empire is keeping you busy. I don't think that villa is an eye sore at all. I'd move in tomorrow.

Does it have a name?? Not that I could afford to rent it. Maybe if SOTB grew to like 30 members.

To everybody else; Sorry I expressed my feelings in such a colorful, but negative way. I'm the kind of person that is not overly impressed with extravagant displays of grandeur and excess. I'd really rather drive a Honda than a Rolls. Hummers gross me out when I see one person driving in them from suburbia to D.C.
I'd rather sit in the nosebleed seats then the mezzanine at a football game. Sorry, Jorge, even Harley's don't do much for me anymore. Too often these days they are just status symbols for yups. I wouldn't mind a '52 Vincent Black Lightening, though.
Oops! Sorry, I'm really getting off topic. Thanks to all who posted the pictures of the architectural wonder. And again, sorry for stirring up so much bad porridge.

Hey JT, as CaGirl alreay stated, you have nothing to be sorry for when your just expressing your opinion.

You are right about one thing. To often people purchase items because they are a status symbol rather than something they love. We have 2 Harley's and a Buell in our garage. Over the top? Maybe some would think but we truely love the sport of motorcycling. We spend most of our days on our bikes and it makes us happy. The Buell ~ for racing of course!! My hubby wants me to quit (he worries too much) but I'm just not ready yet. Thus we own 3 bikes. I would own another brand but the old Indians are hard to come by

So, my point is...If your spending your money on somthing because it truly makes you happy and it is somthing you love then go for it. If your doing it to "keep up with the Jones", then how sad for you!

So my question is this. Friends of ours took a boat tour recently and the captain told them the place belonged to Steven Spielberg? Anybody able to confirm or refute this? And if that's not true.....they also showed us a photo of a boat that they were told belonged to Samuel L Jackson. Do people just make this stuff up for tourists, or what???
