To Anthony - help

Post by Pia »

Hi Anthony

For some reason I keep getting logged out of the forum even though I "check" the box that you check to stay logged on on your computer (if this makes sense)

Help - it's very frustrating and even when I try to log on, about 70% of the time I enter my username and password then enter and the same screen asking me to log on comes back up - it can take 4 or 5 attempts before it accepts me - don't ya like me anymore :(

As often as I am on the forum it's getting annoying - any suggestions to fix it please.

Pia

I was getting that allot some time back...then it just stopped. I emailed Anthony at the time and he said there wasn't any problem on his end.

I have been having that same deal for about 10 days and it is annoying. I have to close out my browser and only then can I sign back in. I did email Anthony just last night but it doesn't seem to be a forum issue. I thought maybe there was something that was "timing out" my log in but apparently not.

Gee, I just now checked that little box  . After we got back from STJ in December, I dedided to write a belated trip report. There were so many to catch up on and read when we got back as there were so many people on island at that time. Well, I finally got to it around January and just started typing. Ended up writing the whole thing. I clicked submit and I wasn't logged in. The whole thing vanished even after I logged in. I was so frustrated that I didn't write another. Next time! Anyway, Mary Beth pretty much covered the first few days (Fri-Sat-Sun) of our trip in her report as we saw alot of them :D .

Most times this is a cookie issue and it can be causes by so many variables it is very hard to troubleshoot.

If you have any experience with working with your cookie file(s) - and this depends on what your OS is and what browser you are using etc. - you can delete the cookie for virgin-islands-on-line.com and hopefully a new one will work better. It can also be related to your security software if you use it, and your system and web browser settings security settings, updates, etc.

Let me know your set up, and I will look for any possible issues with phpBB and what you are using. Sorry for the frustration.

Brenda, the same thing happened to me last year. I was logged in, but I guess I took to long to write the report and was logged out. Poof, the report was gone when I hit the "preview" button. Someone suggested you create a word document the copy and paste to the forum. I was fuming!

I would always compose anything of length that is going to posted into a form field in another program - you just never know what you can lose on a website form - this or any other.

I would suggest notepad or simple text or something like that though - Word uses a lot of non standard characters that causes a whole other list of issues :(

Read this too late.

I just spent the ENTIRE afternoon writing my trip report with links to pictures and it logged me out and I lost the whole thing. I don't know when I'll have another chunk of time like this again.

Its my own fault for not being a little more tech-savvy. I'll get it written again---its all in my head.
