Another Car Rental Question

Post by SanDiegoMark »

Sigh, I know that there is a rental car question posted almost every week. Unfortunately, its my turn! We're returning in June and have always used Penn's for our car rental (mainly for their parking lot.) It seems that everyone loves either Conrad Sutton or St. John Car Rental. What will make the final decision for me is probably who offers better/bigger/easier access for Cruz Bay parking. Any advice would be welcome!

BTW, we'll be on island June 7 - 16 if anyone wants to meet at the Beach Bar!

Conrad's parking is tight. I used to park there only after they were closed (around 6).

I've completely given up, made friends with Slim Man and park in his lot as my first choice every time. The other option that works for us is up at the NPS visitor's center after 5 or along that road in the morning for a day on the boat.

Cheers, RickG

Slim is great. He even parked our car for us a few nights. We like giving him our business!

Conrad's can be tight, but he is usually around (unless it is pretty late) and will park it for you if you are a wimp. Yes, I am a wimp.

I have never not been able to get a spot in his lot. I can't say the same for at least 2 sets of friends who have rented with STJ Cars.

I hear ya... as a rule I do not back in to a spot when anyone's watching me ;) I'm happy to hand it over to Slim. He can park it before I barely have the door shut.

Excuse my ignorance... Does Slim works for Conrad? Is St. John Car Rental the same tight fit in the parking lot?

We rented from Bougainvillea last year and used one of their few spots when possible. When not, we used slim man's. So easy and reasonably priced. The Mr. Ksea parked the big a$$ commander no problem. This year we are renting from Mr. Sutton due to price and availability of the vehicle we wanted, and his close proximity to the dock.

We found both very tight and wide open parking at St. John Car Rental, it depended on the night.

Slim Man runs a parking lot across the street from the Waterfront. It is $5 for 90 minutes or less and $10 for more. But, if you are a frequent flyer... he likes to take care of his friends. Ask about his band. I also believe that he works for the NPS.

We always got a spot in STJ Car Rental, but there were times that it was very, very tight.

Thanks for all of your input, it was a great help!

On a separate disturbing note, I happen to check our flights yesterday (booked using ff-miles a long time ago) only to discover the flight schedule changed and our flights don't exist any longer. Thanks AA for no notice! Since we're restricted when we can leave, this may greatly effect our stay. Whaaaaaa

We just got back from St. John last night and rented from St. John Car rental for the week. It was very busy this last week, but we were always able to park in their lot. I would go with them again in a heartbeat.
