Best location for long day sun?

Post by ihochman »

I've noticed that many people on this forum have stayed
in and love Coral Bay. I love Coral Bay as well but have never had a house there. I'd really like to get a villa there but am wondering if the sun and light are as great as on the southwest part of the island (we love Great Cruz Bay for the late day light). I know I won't get to
see the sunset but the sunrise is just fine. My concern is that we love the late day sun at the pool and can't figure if that's possible on the east side of the island. I've stayed in Peter Bay once and was disappointed that in the late afternoon there is not sun and is a bit dark. So for all you Coral Bay folks, what's your opinion and experience on this situation. I know the sun isn't good for you.... but why go to St John to sit in the shade. I await your thoughts.
Thanks, Ilene

We stayed East the first years. Then we went South. Sol Inclination, as the name implies, where you see the sun rise and set.

It really depends on the villa, and the position relative to the sun. The house and/or trees can block the sun at any time. Check with your agent.
When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

Reef Madness has good afternoon sun. We were watching the sun creep up the Coral Bay hills yesterday commenting on who got sun when.

The villas where we have stayed off Salt Pond road tend to get full morning sun even on porches with overhangs. In the afternoon, these are shaded. We stayed at Lille Paradis in Nov and the pool and pool area received sun all day. Depending on the villa location, you may or may not see the sun rise but I think most have a good sunset. Villas located higher up such as Villa Carolina will likely give you fantastic sunrises and sunsets.
