I feel your pain! My iPod was loaded with Buffett, Marley and other assorted "island" tunes, but one of the others had all 80's rock and that's what we ended up listening to most of the time. We were outnumbered! Unfortunately, it just takes away from the island feel that we so want to enjoy.

:) I like steel pan. Robert Symons, the Kindred, and the Toucans. We heard a steel pan group play "Perfidia" on Tortola back in the 90's, and never forgot it.

 Am stocking our new Zune MP3 player with that for our June trip.

Some from playlists made for most recent trip. Some of these have an island vibe via the type of music, others just play it loud/sing along stuff for the jeep and/or mellower evening stuff.

Everywhere I Go – Jackson Browne
Dreadlock Holiday – 10cc
Red Wine – UB40
Isle Of Paradise – Bluelagoon
Sad to Know – Gregory Isaacs
Save It For Later – English Beat
Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes – Paul Simon
Callin’ in Gone – Boat Drunks
Blue Sky – Allman Brothers
A Good Feeling to Know - Poco
Sunny Afternoon – The Kinks
Let’s Play – The Subdudes
It’s Alright – The Smithereens
When I Write the Book – Rockpile
Crazy Life – Toad the Wet Sprocket
Dyslexic Heart – Paul Westerberg
Vagabond Moon – Willie Nile
This Is Us – Mark Knopfler & Emmylou Harris
Private Conversation – Lyle Lovett
Shout Out Loud – Amos Lee
When we come to place where the sea and the sky collide
Throw me over the edge and let my spirit glide

Santana latin flavored song line-up

Post by sherban »

In order to stick with "Island Themed" music, I'm going to go with a line-up of hot latin Santana songs...

Santana (Shaman)- "Foo Foo"
Santana (Shaman)- "Adouma"
Santana (Milagro)- "Saja Right on"
Santana (Shaman)- "Amore (Sexo)
Santana (Supernatural)- "Smooth"
Santana (Supernatural)- "Corazon Espinazo"

Shake your moneymakers people!

The soundtrack album " The Harder They Come "--- Jimmy Cliff - [or even rent the movie]. It makes the most lethargic lifeforms get up and dance island style.

I need to add a non-Buffett song to the list:

Exit Zero - great recommendation. Another good Jimmy Cliff loaded album is Club Paradise but I can't find it anywhere except on ebay and I refuse to pay 40 to 100 bucks for it there when I know it's a bootleg cuz the same person lists it all the time.

If any one knows where you can get it without paying exhorbatant prices, let me know cuz right now, I only have the album. The only song you can get from it off of iTunes is "Third World People".
