The girlfriend and I are going to St. Thomas from Apr. 28-May 3. we are staying at Pt. Pleasant Resort and was wondering what we should do and see. we plan on renting a jeep for a couple days and travel to st. john. we are gonna do the SNUBA and parasailing. How can we fill our 5 days in paradise?
thanks
Do Coki, Sapphire and Secret Harbor beaches (all good snorkeling). Check out the Limnos or New Horizons for a boat trip. Mountain Top/Drakes Seat has great views. If you have any enery left there's always shopping downtown or Havensight.
Yes, what USVISuzieQ said. We have never rented a car on STT. the cabs are plentiful and relatively cheap. The problem is that there isn't much parking and the traffic is pretty bad.
I'm not sure if St. Peter Greathouse is only open for functions or if you can just go up there and look around. We were there for a company dinner. Here's a view of Magen's Bay from the deck. If you can go up there and hang out for a while you'll be blown away by the views! (and they have a real neat gift shop!)
You have to go to Magen's bay. It's so beautiful, but can be a little on the crowded side. Try to pick a day that there aren't any cruise ships in port. Also, check out the shops and restaurants at Yacht Haven and Havensight. Mafolie has an excellent restaurant and view. And lastly, take the ferry to St. John for the day. From Red Hook, it's only $5 a person each way and it leaves every hour until 11pm.

It's not necessary to rent a jeep if it's a short trip to St. John and you are just hitting the beach. To actually EXPLORE the island you wouldn't want to do it any other way.

Half the fun of the travel is the esthetic of lostness.

Skinny's for burgers woody's for happy hour beach bar for sunday forum and jazz party Miss lucy's for brunch. there are better beaches the trunk it gets all the hype because that is where they take the cruise ship passengers
what beach on st john then? my girlfriend just wants to tan...i am more into hiking and being in the water. this is my first vacation as an adult so i wanna make it good
If you don't have a jeep you will be limited to where the taxis will go Hawksnest, trunk and cininmon. Or you could catch a taxi and hike to solamon and honeymoon orhike the nps office in town. if you have a car the choices are just about limit less I like maho, Francis, salt pond, waterlemon
Salomon is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island (IMHO), and you have to hike to get to it, so it would suit both of you very well. Take the Lind Point Trail from behind the NPS office, or go to Caneel Bay Resort (they let you use their beaches) and hike in from there (shorter hike) past Honeymoon Beach (you get 2 beaches for the "hike" of one! ).
If you are looking for a nice oceanfront dinner on STT then head to Havana Blue @ the Marriott. Its a cuban inspired place directly on Morningstar beach. Lots of wave action. My wife and I head there each time on STT for a nice quiet intimate dinner.
