Have you seen "Once?"

Post by Pete (Mr. Marcia) »

Marcia and I saw it over the weekend. We both thought it was one of best films that we have seen in years. It should have won for best picture, or at least have been nominated.

I'm glad that at least the song got recognition.

What did you think of the movie?

I saw it when it first came out on dvd and loved it. I found the music almost haunting, in a good way, it stayed with me for quite awhile. How perfect that they won for their music since that is what the whole story was about. I loved how genuine and composed she was when accepting her award.

We saw this when it came out in theatres and the moment I came home I ran and emailed all my friends and family to go see it or rent it. I've never done after any other movie. It was that good, in my opinion.

Also, I think anyone who has spent 48 hours straight in a recording studio (no, I do not sing ;) ) will appreciate that aspect.

I too loved the movie and their Academy Award performance and acceptance. Interesting background story on Wikipedia:

Just picked up the sound track CD from the library.

Yes---I got it at Blockbuster in January or so on a whim, almost didn't watch it, started watching it late one evening and was just captivated by it. Really good "small film."

For all you guitar players out there, "Falling Slowly" is a pretty darn easy song to get down...a bunch of open chords. Ultimate-guitar.com has a good tab.

Marcia and I saw the movie last Saturday night and then learned the song together on Sunday. (She can hit the high notes, I certainly can't.)

Saw it last night. My wife and I really enjoyed it. Thanks to all (especially Pete) for the recommendation.

I hadn't heard of it since I never watch the Academy awards.

Pete, it looks like all the songs are in standard tuning, is that right?

"Falling Slowly" certainly is. C to F, C to F, rinse and repeat...throw in an Am and G and call that good.
