HELP!! Aerie Villa, Windwardside, Blue Caribe, or others?

Post by erika9252 »

Wow this trip planning is wearing me out.
my boyfriend will be returning from iraq for an 18 day mid-tour leave off of his 15 month deployment in may and we are going to be visiting st.john for a week may 4-11. obviously i am in charge of accomodation finding since he is in iraq. i've searched high and low, found some i love, some i hate, some that are booked. i'm desperate at this point. HELP!

our budget for accomodations would be perfect if under $2000/week. We need something cute, romantic, SECLUDED (but not a trillion miles away if we wanted to go out), updated decor, AC in bedrooms (unless anyone has any insight on tradewinds cooling the place off), a pool or spa would be perfect. nice bathrooms are even better.

we have looked at Aerie Villa, but something is telling me to be skeptical of the pristine images on the website www.stjohnaerie.com. Also it is over 2,000/week. I found Blue Caribe, which is cute but Eric hates the view and i'm worried about the no ac since it is so low to the bay. i'm absolutely in love with Windwardside Main House, it's cheap, gorgeous, secluded, once again i'd just feel more comfortable having more firsthand info (websites can be deceiving)

Any and ALL other suggestions would be most greatly appreciated!! this task has taken over my life lately and i'm ready to move on to another stage of this vacation planning. many people have thrown out suggestions i just want to make sure i'm covering every inch of my options.

thank you so much!!

Welcome to the forum - you will love it here :)

OK guy's we need to find a place :)

Sorry I didn't answer your PM from the "other" forum but I have had company for the last 21 days and the last family members left last night so I have been a bit "pooped" :)

As far as the last villa you asked me about on Calabash Boom, I would ask exactly the location. They are starting construction on the new "affordable housing" development in the area and you could be effected by noise so just check that one out. I will go back and read your PM and answer later if that's OK as I just walked in from a wonderful dinner out :)

Talk soon

I tagged "Fun and Contenment", but just from the website, no first hand info.

I agree with Pia, let's find these guys a great place,

How about Casa Contant? I don't see a/c mentioned so you might want to inquire about that.

Looks like Fun & Contenment is booked for your dates. Try calling several agencies, explain the circumstances and see if they can helpn you out.

Look at Villa Callalo thru vivactions.com, no ac but cute, different, private, and in the right $ range

I've always thought it would be fun to stay at String of Pearls, which is on the water in Great Cruz Bay. Its $1750/week and available. I wouldn't call it secluded, though.

I did similar research recently for under $2k places. I focused on Coral Bay. AC was not our priority cuz the Coral Bay tradewinds kept us cool the last few times we stayed there.

Here are some suggestions:

Island Cottage
http://stjohnhouserentals.com/IslandCottage.htm
Above Coral Bay (town)
Small Hot Tub w/ view
Paved Road
No cabel/sattelite

Tradewinds Cottage
http://tradewindscottage.com/
John’s Folly Bay
? cable/satellite

Sago Cottage
Google "Sago Cottage"
Same owners as Windwardsie
Calabash Boom
Large Hot Tub w/ View
No cable/satellite

Kiddle Bay Cottage
http://www.kiddelbay.com/
Kiddle Bay
Cable TV
Walk to beach

Blue Caribe
http://bluecaribestjohn.com/rates.html
Large Hot Tub
Paved Road
King Bed
Cable TV
Washer/ Dryer
Above Coral Bay (town)
Screened-in Porch?

Also Fishbone:

And Tranquility

Having trouble remembering the name of the villa that was just recently finished in Coral Bay. All I remember is that the guy came from Hamptons, Long Island. Was an adorable house. Does anyone remember the name? Might work for these guys but I dona't think it had a pool.

Susan and Herb---I believe you're thinking of Blue Caribe. I think that house looks great, too.

Lille Paradis might be worth a look (www.windspree.com). It is around $2000 per week for that time of the year and is pretty nice. It is arranged on a hillside so that the main floor with living, dining kitchen, and a full bath are on the main (top) floor as you enter. Down one floor is the bedroom with another full bath. Down one more floor is the pool, deck, and hot tub. Kiddle Bay is a 3-4 minute walk via private path. The pool and hot tub area are totally private. The whole villa has very good A/C. Decks on both the top and bedroom floors.
A possible drawback is that is rather secluded and on the Coral Bay side of the island (off Salt Pond road). Pretty much need a jeep. The seclusion may also be a positive because when I first was back from a different war, I didn't feel too comfortable with a lot of people close by.

Good luck, I hope you find something really nice and relaxing.

One more thought...or maybe I've completely lost my mind (memory): wasn't there some type of "special" vacation package advertised here not too long ago (maybe by Anthony) being offered to US Troops.

Okay, I found it (which means I haven't completely lost it - phew):

Just another option?? Ali~

Thanks Iowaguy,

Blue Caribe was the villa. It looks cute. On the small side I think, but cute.
