Regarding the name the villa posts being locked - UPDATED

Post by Anthony »

UPDATE: Well, just to let you all know so it doesn't become some kind of forum rumor - I have deleted the account of "Keep Left". Simply put I felt that this user was abusing the forum and using it as their own personal marketing tool. I have invited them to re-register and play by the rules. That is all I am going to say about it. I will leave this post up for a couple of days so everyone has a chance to read it.
Thanks -

Folks please don't come down too hard on me but I have temporarily locked those posts. I am not sure I am comfortable that a user, who hasn't asked permission, should be running contests on this site and/or collecting email addresses and asking for private responses. Not trying to be a stick in the mud, but I am feeling that this is a little bit too overt an effort at self/stealth promotion. Of course I have been busy with some personal matters and this just came to my attention so I am behind the curve on it. I need a little time to sort through this and I do not want to discuss it here - so if you have anything to add please PM or email me - and remember that I am in Italy so it is nearly 2 AM here and I am going to sleep now.
Thanks -

JT gives Anthony 3 cheers for removing the posts. I thought KL was abusing the spirit of the forum rules with his "deal" on his villa to whoever came up with the best Italian name for his Caribbean rental. I had thought of submitting a name myself but I couldn't find an Italian translation for the less then complimentary name that I had in mind.

I agree with Anthony, I did feel a little like the forum was being taken over.

I agree that Anthony did the right thing! I was surprised when I got a PM from KL (maybe a month ago, or longer), advertising his book. I may have even received 2, not sure because I just deleted it or them right away. I actually was going to purchase the book for a friend, but I was kind of turned off by receiving the PM and decided against it.

Anthony, you made a good call. I really appreciate everything you do on this board. I too was annoyed by the PM marketing the book.
