Garden By The Sea Bed and Breakfast

Post by nothintolose »

I was wondering if anyone has stayed there or checked it out. I have a some friends that are thinking planning on honeymooning on STJ and don't want to pay the rates of Caneel or the Westin and are thinking more along the B&B route or something other than a villa.

Other suggestions are appreciated as well; I already suggested Estate Lindholm.

Thanks,
nothintolose

p.s. I think they want to be close to Cruz Bay

Hi Nothintolose:

I had looked into them for our recent trip, they looked OK, but I think they could do better at a small villa for a Honneymoon. They may want to check out Far Horizons. We just rented it a few weeks ago & I think it would be great for a Honneymoon. It is just past the Gallows.

We rented the bottom unit & felt we had comlpete privacy. The rate was around $200.00 a nightin high season. Also there are the Samuels Cabins, hey are close to town & are only $100.00 a night.

I posted a review of Far Horizon if you are interested.

Hi Nothintolose,

Here is the web site. It is rented by the owner Anna.
She is very nice. You can view it thru Great Rentals.

Don't know anything about Garden By the Sea, but if it's a B&B they're after I can highly recommend Estate Lindholm.

We stayed at Garden by the Sea in November of 2005. It was great -- the rooms were lovely and well maintained. The common area was charming, with lots of books, cds, and an honor bar. The hosts (Nancy and John) were very friendly and helpful. I'm not sure if they still own the place - I think they do. Breakfast was delicious, and different everyday.

Anyway, the only drawback I see is there is no pool. We walked from town in the evenings via the path behind Coconut Coast studios. It's a pretty well-maintained path, but still a little sketchy in the dark. It didn't bother my husband in the least, but I was afraid I'd step on a critter!

But, nonetheless, we'd totally stay at garden by the sea again. That said, we usually stay at Estate Lindholm now...

I'd recommend them both. It just depends what you are looking for.

Thanks for the info everyone! I will pass it on.

As for Estate Lindholm, I have already suggested it as we usually stay there a couple of nights after our villa stay when everyone else leaves. One year, when it was just the two of us, we stayed there the whole trip. We LOVE Estate Lindholm.

I don't know what made them choose Garden By the Sea over Estate Lindholm except maybe being closer to town and the water.

Thanks again for the info.
