Riffing on the book thread and inspired (?) by the Grammys, what music are you all listening to lately?
The new Jack Johnson record "Sleep Through the Static" is quite enjoyable and island worthy. Best individual tracks to consider for download include:

Speaking of the Grammys, did anyone else who saw it think that was a real car wreck of a show?
i.e. parts made you cringe, but you couldn't turn away?

I saw bits and pieces but it was really boring to me. I quickly switched over to my GO TO channel - the Food Network!
As for what I'm listening to - not much - but I did watch the movie ONCE this weekend and I can't stop thinking about the film and hearing the soundtrack in my head. Went to iTunes yesterday to look for it and then got distracted. Perhaps I will get back there today.

I'm at work and I'm listening to Keith Urban's Greatest Hits on my iPod.
As to the Grammy's, I went back and forth, channel surfing, and really only watched the performances. And I have to say I just LOVED Tina Turner & Beyonce. That Tina can really rock at the fine age of 69! I can only hope to wear stilettos and a silver jumpsuit and look that great when I'm that age! Instead, it'll probably be sensible shoes and Depends!

Bubbly was her hit, but I prefer the more obscure stuff. (Her father was producer on the album Rumors by Fleetwood Mac) and she writes her own stuff.
Anything by Dave Matthews or John Legend (Slow Dance and Stay with you).
Kate Havnevick, especially Grace.

I have been stuck on anything by Martin Sexton - maybe some of you East coasters are familiar with him. His voice is awesome (in my opinion,of course!).
We saw him in concert here in Madison late last year in a very small venue and stood right up in front of the stage - thats the best way to see a concert!

I'll second Flip Flop's recommendation of Colby Caillat. I also really like almost everything Sara Bareilles has done (reminds me a bit of Colby Caillat). James Morrison has some really good songs too (Wonderful World, You Give Me Something).
Right now I'm listening to a mix I made for my March trip to St. John with a slightly reggae feel---"Sweetest Girl" by Wyclef Jean, "I Can Take You There" by Sean Kingston, an awesome acoustic version of "Hey Ya" by Obadiah Parker, some Kanye West, more by both Sean Kingston and Wyclef Jean, and some more obscure songs. I call it my "One Love" mix and I have a picture of Ivan's on the cover. It helps me get through February on the frozen tundra.
