A big "Thank You" to all for their wonderful tips and suggestions on St. John. I am not a fantical writer so I will sum up. We stayed in Chocolate Hole at Villa Angelica, rented a Jeep Liberty (brand new),snorkeled everday, went out to eat every night, enjoyed more than few rum drinks, saw lots of cool wildlife (tarantula in the pool!) and all around had a wonderful time on a beautiful island with friendly folks. Took a day sail with Matt from "Lion in da sun" and had a fab time. I would recommend St. John to anyone, it seems to have something for most. Like most caribbean Islands I have visited it walks a fine line bewteen remaining laid back and non commercial with some unwanted growth (siren usa for example)but it is still a charming, relaxing special place. I would say to go before it changes and hopefully it won't and the growth will be a positive step. Highlights were Salt Pond Bay, Asolare for a fantastic romantic dinner, the charter day with Matt and most all the warm sand between our toes, sunny skies and lots of laughs.

Angelica was a very nice villa in a good location- I posted a review for more detailed info. If you have any questions PM me. Siren USA didn't impact our trip but it is very noticeable and after spending time on the island you know it will have a huge impact with the number of people it will attract and I personally don't think it will be positive but JMHO.
Color me stupid I cannot post a picture- can anybody help? I have some of our pool buddy!

Spider
Hey, First time poster here.
The spider picture is no longer showing up, but anyways, that's my biggest fear. We have our first trip to St John planned for June. I have reserved the new villa Reef Madness.
I haven't told my wife about the possibilities of tarantulas. I'm afraid if she sees one on the villa property she'll be on the first boat off St John! They're so big I won't want to squish it.

gavinman you can't squish them! They eat other bad bugs. They are actually harmelss to humans -they do bite though but thier venom is less than a bee sting. so just relocate them back to tress and plants.
CaptKirk thank you for the info prior to our trip it was spot on! We had two large iguanas in the tree tops that came out to sun every morning and lots of cameleons (sp?) too- it was like wild kingdom. My husband loved it.
