Still on Island Time TRIP REPORT/part 3...final!

Post by Carolyn »

Reef Bay: We attempted to find the trail head at the end of Fish Bay Rd but were unsuccessful and I was very disappointed. So we drove out to Little Lamshur and the water was churning pretty well so we decided instead to trek out to Reef Bay from Lameshur.

So glad we did. The petroglyphs were special in a way I can not describe. I am honored to have visited such a special place.

We walked on down to the Sugar mill factory and stuck our toes into the reef bay...not a bad walk down there from the petroglyphs.

This guy was quite large as his furry legs show:

On the way back up we tried to go up to the great house but signs warned of unstable ruins and not to enter...we did go up as far as we could but the condition of the ruins are not what turned me around.....BEES....the sound of perhaps millions of bees is what stopped us. Too bad....wish that the house were restored and available to explore. I'd love to see some old photos of this.

Well this wonderful trip came to an end . It was the first time I left the island and didn't get kindo of choked up.
I know I will be back to this glorious special place!

<img src="http://home.comcast.net/~carlycof/ferry2.jpg">

I did get a special treat at the airport. We had time to kill so we hung out in the bar...dah!

As we were walking to our gate much to my surprise JEFF, one half of Bongo was about to dig into his salad, when I approached him and said "JEFF?"

He doesn't know me but I certainly feel like I know him from his wonderful blog. Thanks Jeff, you were kind and a nice little cap to my already wonderful trip!

So thats it til we get back again...anytime is fine!

I enjoyed all of your reports and pictures. It sounds like you had a great time and I am sure you will be back soon!

It is funny, usually I can't see many pictures here at work, but I can see yours. I usually get the red X's and have to wait to get home for the pictures.

Thank you for the nice report. Feel sorry for you about the breast cancer. Fine that you are cured and still understand to enjoy life.

Oh, I would be so glad, if I could see the pictures, but I can't. It's the same everytime there only is a

My idea didn't work, I had cause and effect wrong....

Dave's idea below worked well:

I'm not so sure it's a browser config problem...more likely firewall. Here's a work-around that did the trick for me...hope it works for all...

Right-click one (any) of the red "X"s and select "Properties". In the new dialogue box, highlight the address (URL) of the pic, then copy and paste it into the address bar of your browser, and hit "Enter". You'll be taken to a page that shows that particular photo. Now...hit the "Back" button, and when you get back to the forum...ALL of Carolyn's pics should show up fine - inline - including the pics in the first couple of installments.

If it doesn't work, lemme know!

Dave.

Great reports! I love your pictures, and you gave me some ideas for "next time" -- things I didn't see.

Thank you!

Sorry that fix didn't work I also had some additional issues after I did that...I thought I had it licked but then got the evil red "x" again...

If you right click the red "x" and go to Properties, you will see the file type is unknown for some reason...it should be jpeg, I believe. I'm pretty sure this is a browser config issue where you just need to tell the browser not to worry about the fact that the file type and other info is unknown..."don't worry about it, just open the file, silly browser"...I'm working on another fix...really...

Dave- Yes, that worked perfectly.

Do you know why this is?

Maybe that is what I did yesterday and just thought the browser change did the trick...not sure about cause and effect relationship here...
