our first trip - thanks guys

Post by stacywag »

we will be leaving for st john and estate lindholm 12/10 for a week to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday (12/12) and our 5th anniversary (12/11) and the removal the night before of a toupee he's worn for 25 years that he's promised me for 5 years he would take off on his 50th HAHA. Well it's already arrived and we are thrilled to be almost on our way. I have been reading this forum for the last 6 months while planning our trip and feel like I know you. Just wanted to thank you for all the help and advice you give us new people. The only hard problem will be balancing the limin with the wanting to see and do everything I've read about. I will post a trip report when I come back and hopefully will meet some of you great guys! It is going to be especially wonderful after our last week of St Louis ice storm weather and no power for 6 days. St John here we come

Well – Happy Birthday to your hubby. Have a great time. Don’t try an do too much – I can assure you that STJ will hook you, like it has hook everyone on this forum and that you will be back. Enjoy, relax, drink and be merry. Look forward to your report.

I just know you're going to have a super time! And tell your husband that if he removes that toupee and keeps it off, he's one-up on William Shatner! LOL!

Capt. Kirk has a rug? Oh no - Scotty will have to beam him up in pieces.

Take it from a "planner" the need to see everything and be on the run, will likely fade in to your first sunset! Enjoy......

You're gonna have a GREAT TIME! You'd better head to the Canvas Factory and get a hat for hour hubby first thing when you get there or his head will get fried to a crisp! While you're there you will want to pick up one of their great canvas bags for yourself.

Say 'Hi' to Lauren at Estate Lindholm for me.

Be sure to write a trip report and tell us when you're second trip to STJ will be. Have lots of fun and leave lots to do on that second trip.

Hope that you have a great and relaxing vacation. I leave 3 days after you do. Look for someone in a blue jeep wrangler island car and that will be me. I'll look for a sunburned head.

That may be how he lost his hair in the first place! It got beamed up separately and went where no man has gone before!

I bought him the #50 sunscreen for his head since that top hasn't seen sun for 25 years. But we also had arranged this unveiling time for when he could go away and come back with the chrome dome and face the same color. (this way all his friends and coworkers that he thinks doesn't know that he wears a rug - wink,wink- will not notice a tan line. ) I asked him how he was going to explain the BIG change and he said he was going to tell everyone that this is what happens to you when you take a crazy wife on vacation and let her drink too many painkillers) I can't wait to meet Lauren - she sounds great and so fun when I have talked to her. I also am looking forward to Ruth and her spice shop

Thanks- it was my idea. It looks bad and is expensive - we can come to St John every year for the price of his hairpieces and monthly maintenance. I think he will look great. He has been growing a goatee in preparation for the big event for 2 weeks. His 3 college age children have never seen him without it. The family christmas party will be quite a shock for everyone this year. LOL

Stacywag,

Glad you finally posted so we can all chat at ya now!! What a wonderful idea you guys have with the unveiling, be sure to let us know how the family takes it all! Oh, and how sweet to be leaving St. Louis after all that snow and cold weather. I'm so excited for you. :P

You WILL love STJ, and don't worry about trying to do everything...... it's impossible. One of my favorite lines from a Chesney song goes "ambition fades with each passing wave" and it's true. You get to limn on the beach and suddenly you can't move, it's magical. 8)

Looking forward to your trip report, keep a journal because your brain goes to mush while on Island Time.

Happy B'Day to hubby!

Enjoy your first and certainly not last trip to St. John.

when you post your trip report, can you let me know what it is that they're building by Estate Lindholm? Is it new rooms? We noticed it while driving by.

You'll enjoy Estate Lindholm; the rooms are great. The honor bar comes in handy and the breakfast is just enough to get you moving (if you want to :)

have fun!

Here's wishing the both of you the trip of a Lifetime!!

And congrats to your hubby for getting rid of the toupee. I'm sure that is a big step for a man. Kudo's to him!

Apparently he doesn't understand how sexy bald men can be! My husband says I am crazy but I was dating 5 bald men when I met him and he too is bald. Some were self inflicted, but most of them were the real thing! When he wants me to stop dying my grey I tell him that just because he is bald doesn't mean I have to be grey! That will never happen!

You guys have a great trip! My first trip was all about which beach to spend the day on and I know I didn't see half of what I wanted to see but we are going back this summer and I am sure the same thing will happen again! The limin takes over and you don't stand a chance so why fight it!
