Can St John Help?
Can St John Help?
The Patriots got beat Sunday, today is nothing but cold rain and sleet, the phones will not stop ringing at work and its our Presidential Primary day. That always adds a little more stress.
3 more weeks until until we arrive on St John for the first time. I have faith that island life can set me straight.
A few more questions...
1. How late do taxi's run to the Gifft Hill area?
2. I know rum is the drink of choice but do the watering holes carry good vodka?
3. We want to charter a nice boat for a day. Any suggestions? Nothing too small.
4. Best local hang out? As a tourist I try and avoid the tourist spots, that is if it is acceptable by the locals.
Thanks for your help.

Hi I'll try to help where I can
Vodka yes they have premimum brands in fact they are alot cheaper there then in the states you might want to pick up a couple of bottles to take home.
Are you talking power or sail with oe with out a captain
Stj isn't like other places you will find locals at most places for more of and Island feel try Caps , moonies and front yard. but don't miss woodys, beach bar and skinny's

Is it still football season?
I'll put in my 2 cents on your questions.
Taxis from downtown can be hit or miss when its late. Your best bet can be by the ferry dock until the ferry stops running. I'm routinely pursued by taxis saying "Westin? Westin?" as late as 1AM.
Yes, there is vodka. Ketel 1 is all over the place. I don't look for it much. Though, the cheapest Guiness Foreign Extra Stout is at the small vendor that setups up next to La Tapa - $2!
How many people? More than 6 and you get pushed into a higher class captain's license with fewer choices.
Local's hangout: Tamarind Court, Front Yard, Larry's Landing, Shipwreck Landing, Aqua Bistro, Skinny Legs... I haven't been to the new Larry's Landing, the old one was foonkey.
Cheers, RickG

For a boat charter, I highly recommend Born to Rhumb (borntorhumb.com). Captain Kevin is fantastic and you will have a great day. We have gone out with him for the past 2 years and look forward to doing it again in April. Kevin will take you wherever you want to go, and he has great suggestions. Just a great time !
