Becky - I bet EVERYONE wants to come to ya'll's house for game day! I know I would!
Just catching up on all of the food porn - it looks so good - have been swamped with Mardi Gras stuff and have had no time for anything else but am gonna sneak to the grocery and grab something for dinner tonight and get my cooking fix taken care of.
We are opting for the Superbowl over another parade (phew I am exhausted and we still have two more days of this).

p.s. hope the foot smell is gone by now

Not yet Becky, but it is Mardi Gras so maybe Monday. Don't worry, I will let ya' know
When I saw your first pics, I almost died laughing as I made guacamole tonight using YOUR recipe! I almost made spinach-artichoke dip, but Jerry didn't want any, and it was just the two of us.
I was also gonna make your chicken buffalo chicken dip but I didn't know what Frank's Sauce was. I figured it was like Tobasco but wasn't sure. I did see it in the grocery after I had already decided not to make it.
So should I use Tobasco or Crystal Hot Sauce or get some of that Frank's stuff?
So...Goth girl are there EVER any leftovers after your parties???

Here are a few things from my not so Super Bowl party (so sad, so sad).
Should have known the evening was off to a bad start when I overcooked my mushrooms. Been making these for a bazillion years! guess the pressure of the big game got to me. They still tasted good, just a little crunchy on the top.
Moved on to a simple veggie platter, another slight fumble as I went over on the red family
Made a nice recovery with a couple of stromboli's -
one meatie - hot & sweet cappicola, genoa salami, mortadella and provolone cheese
Overstuffed the veggie one, couldn't really roll it, but got it to hold together - this one had sliced tomatoes, roasted red peppers, mushrooms, sliced black and green olives, provolone, mozzarella, and romano cheese. Despite the slight miscue, this was a crowd favorite.
Tried out something new with the Buffalo Chicken Dip; certainly wasn't the MVP of the night - no one was kissing my feet I cut down the recipe a bit, but may have still used too much chedder on top - wasn't really dippy
Went back to basics with a simple shrimp cocktail - Kens cocktail sauce is the best - just the right amount of kick (which the Pats should have gone for !!)
Needless to say there is an unopened bottle of Veuve Clicquot still chillin'
Oh well, Spring Training is just around the corner!!

Hubby and I flew to Charleston, SC Saturday for a short one night visit. Weather was beautiful. We gorged ourselves at Charleston Crab House on James Island...I mean literally rolled out of the joint. We both had Edisto grits with cheese, scallions and bar-b-q sauce. Dan also had a blackened Mahi-Mahi sandwich. I couldn't stop eating the crab-puppies (a hush-puppy w/crab). Later that evening we walked down town and raided River Street Sweets....I'm surprised I didn't lapse into a diabetic coma after all the pralines I consumed. Those things are my weakness!

Rick G and California Girl,
Charleston is my Husband's favorite city, hands down. We love the place. Purchased a piece of land on Johns Island (9 miles outside of Charleston)a few years ago. Our ultimate goal is to build and retire there. We have a view of the Stono River from the property. Every chance we get, we fly down to visit the property and EAT!!!!

Here are some photos from last night. This is the breaded grilled shrimp that I posted the recipe for a while back:
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/28539958@N00/2244314852/" title="breaded grilled shrimp by liamsaunt, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2198/224 ... c8bb9a.jpg" width="484" height="500" alt="breaded grilled shrimp"></a>
And this is a Mario Batali recipe for swordfish involtini--it's just stuffed with bread crumbs, olive oil, and parsely. The sauce has tomatoes, capers, parsely, pine nuts, olives, white wine, currants, and red pepper flakes. I served it over spaghetti:

It was really good but I made way too much food. Again.
