Tahiti Open Hole Sponsorship Donations

Post by augie »

I have had contact with the folks that are involved with the benefit golf tournament, and the "Friends from the Virgin Islands On Line Forum" hole sponsorship is a go.

They want to be paid by check, so unless someone has a better idea, I will collect funds by check or PayPal from any of you that wish to participate and then write them a single check.

They will let me know what their deadline for publication is, and at that time I will tally all of the received donations (and pledges to donate) and send them a check. I hope we can get to a Gold level ($1000) sponsorship.

Please PM me if you'd like to participate.

Anthony pointed out to me (thanks!) that some folks reading this may not be aware of just what this is all about.

The Tahiti Open at Pond Bay is a benefit golf tournament, set up on a temporary (and I would guess, very creative) course on St. John, and will be played on February 10 this year.

You can find out more about it at the On St. John web site - here's a link to the article: http://www.on-stjohn.com/2008/01/26/gol ... -pond-bay/

This year's beneficiary is Jim Gillfillan, who is one of the two brothers that opened the Ocean Grill last year. He is battling cancer and his medical bills are mounting.

Just to be clear - this is a private, voluntary effort by some of the folks that visit this forum to pool our resources to sponsor a hole to help with this fund raiser.

So far, in a very short time, we have pledges for donations in excess of $250.

Thank You!

I wanted to let all of you know - the checks I'm collecting don't have to be made out to me - you can make them out to "St John Revolving Fund" with "Jim Gillfillan" in the memo line.

I will forward all checks, and all PayPal proceeds together, to the folks running the tournament.

Thanks!
