Bill,

Your photo's are great! I miss seeing the dock area open like that. I started going in the early 80's and there was a slightly different vibe back then, but even today "it's all good"! Your post will motivate me to get my friends to look through their photo's for a photo of the dockside grill and beer stand for Jorge, I know one is out there somewhere!!

The stone wall is in front of Soca's today. Fish Trap would be on the left.

These were taken about a year after the Mamas & Papas came through & wrote some of their best music. Gives you a sense of the vibe at the time.

Great photos; brought back a lot of memories.

Jorge...we really miss Dockside...too. Unfortunately...I never thought to take a picture. They had the best breakfast sandwiches. Oh...and killer margaritas...BIG margaritas. We used to grab one for the ferry! We were so sad to see it go...

Does anyone remember the chicken bbq that was held on Thursday nights. It was held where the new ferry dock is (at least I think that's where it was)? That was the very first thing that started my love affair with StJ on my first trip in 1981.

Here are a couple of the Dockside area. I seem to remember some that were better (my photos often aren't as good as I remember them being or as I expect they'll be). I do have others but they need to be dug out and scanned.

Here's one of Mooie's. It shows that it is a similar building to the bank building, but with quite a few differences

Those are great pictures. While the bank building and Mooie's have some similarities, it looks as though the bank was on a steeper grade. And though I suppose it is remotely conceivable that they might have decided to re-grade a street in Cruz Bay, I'm guessing it wouldn't be completed until sometime in the twenty-fifth century.
Someone suggested that the bank may have been on the hill below the Lumberyard, and I'm thinking that might be more likely. Looks like the right steepness, if I'm remembering it right.
