OK, Point Pleasant! Great restaurant up there, Agave Terrace. Fun beach restaurant at the bottom - Fungi's, which is built out over the water. A couple of things: Parking is horrendous there, the grading is very steep and between the residents and the restaurant patrons it's really congested at night. Trying to turn around to leave uip there is like driving the steepest driveway on STJ. Can’t always park by your unit – tough with luggage and provisions, you always seem to be walking up a steep incline or trying to keep from skidding back down – lol. Lots of steps to get to pool and beach. Very tiny, tiny beach. The pools are nice, well kept. PP overlooks the ghost town that once was the Grand Beach – not sure what is going on there now. Heard rumors that it would reopen as a Wyndham property but haven’t heard anything new. Heard that the folks that own the low-rise villas to the south on the property (Pineapple Village, Blazing Villas, etc.) are taking care of the beach.
JMO, Secret Harbour would be a better bet – you or she could do a search on Trip Advisor for the unit numbers of those that have been remodeled.
Can they do a villa? There are a couple of great smaller villas away from CA and all of the cruise ship congestion. Sherri owns two out in Dorothea (to the north, roads much less traveled) – Stone Cottage and Rockworks – both great for honeymooners. Sherri does a beautiful welcome basket and really takes care of her guests, especially the h'mooners. Another one on the north side would be Pelican View out in the Caret Bay enclave. Beautiful area, right above the rocky Atlantic, views of Outer Brass. I have some pix I can put up on one of the hosting sites if you would like to see them – we stayed at Mangorosa which is a 4 br detached villa in the same enclave. A bit of a St. John-like entry to get to the Caret Bay coast – fun, need a small 4WD. Last suggestion would be a privately owned condo up in Mahogany Run – views for days and there are some really nice ones for rent up there, too.

Bug,
I have a friend that has a privately managed one bedroom at Sapphire that I have personally stayed in. It is well kept and clean. Great views and just a short walk down to the beach with parking right in front. If you want more info give me a pm and I will send you her information. I would have to agree with the above post about the parking and the grade at Point Pleasant. I do love the restaurant there.

Margy Z,
Thank you so much for your kind words!
Just looked at my calender for bookings and looks like we would only have Rockworks open from April 5th to the 12th, otherwise we are booked solid for both places! Stone Cottage and Rockworks have the same view as Pelican View (just varies a teeny) in Carat Bay! I do all of the pick ups for Carat Bay Villas now, so if they chose Pelican View, I would get to meet them!
We are situated above Dorothea Beach (Rocky) and less than a mile from Hull Bay with easy access to the East End, yet with that same STJ feeling that Margy spoke about! Our area are all acre lots, so few houses in our area!!
If they would like a villa, ck out: www.mclaughlinanderson.com
I totaly agree with Margy on Secret Harbor over Paradise Point! The snorkeling is wonderful there as well!

It's not having what you want, but wanting what you've got! Sheryl Crow, Soakin' in the Sun
Secret Harbour is great. We saw people getting married there right on the beach, and the reception was up on the terrace by the water. They did a nice job with decorations. The snorkeling is pretty good to the right of the beach as you are looking at the water, and the restuarant on site, the Blue Moon Cafe, has good local fish. The staff is very friendly too.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
Hi Bug......let me throw my vote in for Secret Harbour. Allow me to illustrate:
Great morning walks on the beach

Not to mention Rainbows are spectacular!

Oh yeah the Manager's Welcome Party food and entertainment - free

I also agree that Agave is fabulous...great food and great views!

Hope they enjoy wherever they stay!

Hi Bugs
I’ve stayed at both Point Pleasant and the Sapphire Beach Resort on STT. We actually spent our honeymoon at Point Pleasant on the very top of the hill. Here are the pro’s and con’s:
PP Pro’s:
You have the most amazing view to wake up to on top of the hill.
The place we had - had a wrap-around-balcony that was huge. And the accommodations were a nice size.
The pools are great – there are 3 of them. The “Hillside Pool” was a short walk from our place.
You have Agave Terrace Restaurant about mid-way up the hill with a great view. This is an up-scale place and the food is supposed to be great. We had a reservation, but never made it to the place – but that is another story.
Fungi’s is at the base of the property right on the water and is a fun – funky place. The food and drinks are great.
PP Con’s:
The road up and down the hill is very steep. So walking to Fungi’s would be great going down – but it’d be a hike back up.
The place was a little dated and needed some paint and fixing up.
Typical of the islands – if you left some food out – you’d have what we call “Sugar Ants” in the morning. The place had a can of RAID to take care of this.
Sapphire Beach Resort Pro’s:
The unit we stayed in was on the ground floor, at the end, right on the beach.
You open the sliding glass doors and your next step is in the sand.
The beach is large and clean.
The unit was a bit small, but clean and well maintained.
Sapphire Beach Resort Con’s:
We’re non-smokers and the unit smelt of smoke. We opened up everything and this helped.
The pool was dirty - ducks and seagulls would land and swim in the pool.
The pool bar was nothing to write home about – better to bring your own drinks.
Not enough beach chairs – the few that were there were taken early.
Hope this helps.

I'd go with Crystal Cove. I booked a studio thru the Antilles website, was upgraded to a 1 bedroom unit with 2 baths. Units are privately owned, so they differ a bit.
Have stayed at Pointe Pleasant a few times b4, IMHO, ya had to be part goat to get around LOL! Great view tho.
Sapphire Beach is great, the units can differ.
Secret Harbor is great as always, Blue Moon has great food, the units can differ there as well.
