Helping others on STJ

Post by Xislandgirl »

I am not sure if you are all regular visitors of the www.on-stjohn.com blog but I though that I would pass this along. One of the co-owners of the Ocean Grill is ill and they are planning a "golf" tournament to raise miney to help with his medical bills.
You can buy Tickets by emailing Tammy@cruzbayrealty.com
I can tell you from experience that there are wonderful raffle prizes for these events. (GC to stores and restaurants, weekend villa stays, etc)

Would anyone else be interested in chipping in together to sponsor a hole?

The levels are:

Bronze - $100
Silver - $500
Gold - $1000

We could either see if someone on-island would be willing to collect our donations (via PayPal maybe?) and then submit the donation at whatever level we achieve, or we could pool them stateside, then send it all down at once.

What do you all think?

I'm in! I'd be glad to organize but I am going away for a week this Friday. If someone tells me where to send the money I will send it out ASAP. A forumite hole would be great!!

I will call the folks at Connections tomorrow to see what they think is the best way to get this done.

I'll need to find out what the deadline is for them to get the sponsor signs printed, etc.

In the mean time, let's hear what you all think our name on the sponsor sign should be.

Dang...we'll miss it by 6 days. Sounds like so much fun. I'm trying to imagine the course and wishing I could film the whole thing and make it into a movie. Count me in for a contribution to a forum sponsorship.

I have to tell you that some of my fondest memories on island where of the Coral Bay open days. Makeshift golf courses with tons of crazy holes, lots of raffle prizes and laughter, and tons of money for a great cause.

I would be OK with the Forum staying in the background. Let's remain anonymous and have a sign like "Get Well Soon" or "Fight Cancer" rather than posting our identity. How do you feel about keeping the focus on the benificiary of the event? 8)

Besides, I would need a few painkillers of bushwackers to come up with anything particularly clever.

Tom,
Did you order the raffle tickets via e-mail or phone and how did you pay? It sure would be fun to be there for that event.

I was thinking of something like "Friends from the VIOL Forum" or something like that.

We're still anonymous individually, but it lets those on island know that there is a group of us off island that care enough to want to help out as well.

Anyone uncomfortable with that can certainly make an anonymous donation directly to the tournament.
