Yay Shipwreck Landing!
You contributed to one of our best vacation days ever. We found you on our first trip to STJ in 05 after we finished a wonderous daysail with Clark on White Wing.
Here is what I wrote in that trip report:

"Back on shore in the dark, we are deciding between Island Blues and Shipwreck Landing for dinner. Island Blues had given us a maybe better for lunch kind of vibe so went with Shipwreck. Very cool. Crowded, had good live music, with various patrons feeling no pain dancing or even singing with the band. Great blackened snapper, Mahi, and some of the best fish and chips I’ve tasted for my daughter. Good bang for buck here.

Also had a blackout while waiting for food (band too loud? Maybe the guitar was turned up to 11). Caused much merriment in and around the bar. The speed with which the generator was fired up restoring power to restaurant gives the impression that this is not an infrequent occurrence.

We have to slow down for our first STJ donkeys on the drive back to Estate Lindholm. All in all, a pretty fantastic day."

Fav pic from that day:

Since we lived in Bermuda for 5 years before St John, you know we have the Dark & Stormy makings at the bar. Other than a few passing sailors, 15 years ago when we arrived, no one knew what they were. We hand carried the Goslings with us and begged Malcom Gosling to distribute it in the VI. Now it is a bar staple and we even are able to get Barrit's ginger beer to make it authentic.

Ahhh Dark & Stormy. We were introduced to them by Randy at Neptune's Treasure on Anegada. We would sit in the bar in the afternoon chatting with patriarch Vernon Soares while he drank his red wine on ice and we had Stormies. We were VERY pleased when Barrits hit STJ a couple of years ago. Life is good.

Cheers, RickG

Hi Pat! We love your restaurant too! We were there a few weeks ago and had a great meal and love the location.

As far as reservations go: the first time we planned to eat there, it was so packed that we just kept driving down to Miss Lucy's. So then we wised up and made a reservation.

Fine food + live music + great friends = a perfect night!

Hello, Shipwreck Pat!!!
My wife & I stay at Sea Spirit, near Salt Pond Bay, and the Shipwreck is without a doubt our favorite place to eat, drink & hang out. The blackened mahi is better than any fish I've ever had any where, anytime! And that wonderful hot sauce you folks sell, made locally....yum....I alway bring a few bottles home with me. I love the Bananaquits flitting through the restaurant, eating at their sugar bowls. It's a happy, happy place!

Well, Pat, like I said, welcome to the forum, a pretty nice place in space, or should I say cyber space. I'm up in MD freezing my tookus off, wishing I was sitting on a stool passing time with Chris & Barr, Ralph, Ken, etc, while Donna or David keeps my glass full. Tell Donna that Joe & Betty from Maryland say "hello" and that if the Stones do another tour we'll try to get her a ticket and put her up if she needs a place to stay.
Wolfhound, parking is always a challange there in the evenings. I hear tell that the parking places are like the men in Coral Bay, that is, the best ones are taken and the rest are handicapped.
When you find yourself in a hole.... quit digging.

I know for a fact that my picky food girl will be having the Fish & Chips at Shipwreck come June. Oh how I wish it were June!

Welcome, ShipwreckPat! We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your place. Discovered it on our very first trip when we stayed in Johnson Bay Estates. One of our favorite memories... on a subsequent trip, staying up the Boom, there was an all-day down pour. We packed up our 2 sets of dominoes, headed down to your place, snagged ourselves a table and played and drank all day long. As I recall, the locals were intrigued by the game we played - Crow's Foot, as taught me by my Grandma - but unfortunately never got up the nerve to ask to join in. A great way to spend a rainy day.

Shipwreck is one of our favorite places in the world! Love the gazpacho....and everyting else! Is Taco the little fella who liked to "silence" the roosters? Now I have to go find that thread to learn his fate.

Poor Taco.
