I've considered Rhumb Runners MaryBeth, but I haven't stayed there. I would love to hear from someone who has.

Rhumbrunners

Post by laurie »

Stayed in Rhumbrunners in Dec. Nice location above Island Blues in Coral Bay. Raod a little intimidating the first time (5 switchbacks). 2 equal bedrooms back to back, not very private for 2 couples, fine for a family. Nice porch looks over harbor, no outdoor table for eating (would have been too windy to eat outdoors anyway). Kitchen a little too minimal. We needed to buy paper towels, trash bags. A good value, if you are looking for a basic villa. Owners have a cottage right below the villa. Laurie

I spoke to the owner last weekend about that villa. He said they have redone the kitchen with granite counter tops and all the lastest appliances. He said he jogs down to the bottom of the hill and back up for his excercise. I guess if he can do that, you can easily drive it. I was considering another one on that same road, not quite as high up, called Fun and Contentment (Caribbean Villas, I know, Yuck!) It has a pool and hot tub, and is brand new. It's got a good introductory price that is sure to go up.

The road to the villa is Harolds Way, take the 1st right after Lily's market plaza (the police station is there). The owner must be in fabulous shape!, walking up would be a great workout nevermind running!! Would love to see new pics of the kitchen, these renovations had not been started @ the end of Dec. ps I think Fun and Contentment is above Rhumbrunners, I can see it in some of our pics and it is up above it. laurie

I think Bay House is there, as well? Maybe I'm getting confused on the exact road...

Yes, Bay House is the 2nd house up on the left. We did walk up and down the hill. Up is a nice stretch to your legs. I can't imagine running up and down it, but I am basically a lazy person. Ha!!

I absolutely love that area, then. Great views, and I love the constant breezes. The road to Bay House wasn't that bad at all. Not sure how much further up this place is, though.

There were no switchbacks to Bay House...and we never went any further up than our own drive-way so I don't know the condition of the road past that. Other than it did look steep and we heard people spinning their tires when the road was wet.

We looked at Rhumb Runners and it looks like the same layout as Bay House. I preferred Rhumb Runners, but my 3 girls wanted to able to walk to the Cocoloba Center and Island Blues.

BTW, ViVa is listing Bayhouse now for the same price as Caribbean Villas - an effective 5% discount.

Cheers, RickG
