Easter?

Post by mbw1024 »

I'm guessing that Easter always falls in high season or darn close to it - so I'm wondering, would most places be charging the high season rate or do you think there's an "upcharge" for a holiday week? Anyone have any experience with this?

Easter is always High Season as far as I know. Rates drop after Easter. And Easter is early this year so I'm sure that's true this year. I don't believe they charge a premium for any holidays except Thanksgiving and Christmas through New Years.

Thanks. In 2009 Easter is 4/12, which is when I'm considering so my niece can come with us.

Years ago it seemed to me that for many places high season ended on 4/15 regardless of when Easter fell. Now it seems that summer rates don't take effect until after Easter or 4/30...which ever falls later. New England public schools have the third week of April off. That could have something to do with it.

We are going this year for Easter, and they are charging High Season rates, which is pretty much double what we are paying for summer time. I hope the weather is nice. We have only been in July and August.

Ready4, April is a wonderful time on StJ in my opinion. The weather is perfect....with beautiful breezes. The high season businesses are still operating so most restaurant and boating excursion operations are still full time but with out peak crowds. If you live north of upper Mason Dixon then you still have a ways to go until the good weather. JMO

True, but some places may still have 4/15 as the changeover date.
If your Easter/spring break falls late or close to 4/15, it pays to check around.
On our long USVI/BVI trip over Easter in Ap 06, the last few nights at Guavaberry on Virgin Gorda were at off season rate of $190/night which was really the clincher for even extending the trip.

I have a few inquiries out to rental agencies now about how it's going to fall for 2009. haven't heard back. if this works out we could actually be arriving on Easter Sunday so that could be right on the cusp. will report back what I find out.

We are arriving on Easter this year. Did you run into any problems with things being closed on Easter when you went?
