Walking Routes on STj

Post by Tracy in WI »

I will on STJ in less than 2 weeks (!!)) and I am looking for a few good walking routes - not hikes. While the hubby is up and running in the mornings, I thought I should try and get my butt out there too.

I have walked near Great Cruz Bay road before and enjoyed the views so I am looking for something similar. We will be staying in the Rendezvous Bay area and I will have a car to get to someplace near there.

I am a bit nervous about those island dogs that like to come barking and growling so is there someplece where I might be able to avoid them?

Thanks!

Depending on where you are in Rendezvous, you will have some good walking on the roads. I would always grab a big stick or even a broom handle and take it with me when I walked. This way I had a little "help" walking up hill and had a weapon if I needed it.

The walk from the South Shore Road down Chocolate Hole East, past Chocolate Hole out to Bovacoap point to Hart Overlook is nice and something I've done many times. Hart Overlook has a view from Rams Head across Rendezvous Bay and West to Devers Bay and St. Thomas. Lots of nice landscaping and flowers.

Where in Rendezvous Bay are you? There is also a walk down Monte Bay Road to stairs that take you down to the cobble beach at Monte Bay.

I like get up by 7:30 and a lot of my gang get up at 9:30. These walks are my cure for itchy feet.

Cheers, RickG

The road out to Ditliff has been paved and is a great walk/run in the morning. Near the end of the road it dips down and there's a trail to the right that takes you to a protected sandy beach. Park near the entrance.
When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.
