Any experience with 2-way radios on STJ?

Post by DiverDrew »

Our trip in May will consist of two groups; one bound for the beach each morning, the other likely to hang out at the villa until lunch.

We'd like to be able to communicate in order to meet up for lunch.

In the past we've had varying success with using our cell phones on island. Has anyone had success with 2-way radios on STJ and if so, what brand/model works best.

Thanks!

They are pretty much line of sight if you are on the top of the island they might work but if you are on one side of the hill and they are on the other good luck

Folks in our big trip November 2006 only found them usable when two cars were driving on the same length of road. Line of sight!!

Cingular/ATT works pretty well over most of the island. The rest... not so great.

I'd think about getting 2 pay-as-you-go Go Phones from Cingular/At&t. Coverage is good on the island and I think it would be better than line-of-sight radios.
