I am shocked by how fast my express mail (USPS) package reached Cruz Bay.
I mailed in from Poo-dunk PA at 9 am on Thursday and it was checked into the Cruz Bay post office at 3:48 pm on Friday. That is a little over 30 hours counter-to-counter!

I wouldn’t ship wine down there – the heat would just kill it. We always get our wine on STT, nice selection at the Food Center just outside Red Hook. You can always pack that special bottle or two and bring them in your checked luggage.Nancy_B wrote:Wow! That is super quick! Is this for your February 23rd trip? Where did you ship it to? We're considering shipping some wine in advance but are concerned if it will be stored/handled properly in the heat.

FlaGeorge - we don't check luggage
We'll just buy it there - thank you for weighing in!
PA Girl, we have our tickets for February but not for May yet. We have another couple now coming with us for our May trip so I'm feeling the pressure to make the right decision. I've been tracking it via Yapta (thanks, forumites for the recommendation) and it's been holding steady at $496. I was hoping it would drop to $400 but gas prices have me a bit nervous.

Yeah - I had asked the woman who helped me with my wedding in Tortola in '06 if she would send me extra copies of my marriage certificate a couple of months ago. She uses a PO box out of St. John instead of Tortola (as do most business down there) because it was much faster than using Tortola. It only took two days to get here by regular snail mail. (It was pretty cool too cause the big old envelope had in huge writing across the top - "BY THE ORDER OF HER MAJESTY" since it came, originally, from the registrar's office). My boss who has a condo in St. Maarten always sends me a post card when he goes away. He sends it in the very beginning of his trip (which is always three weeks) and it still gets to me a week or so after he's gotten back!
