car rental restrictions

i am trying to help my niece plan her honeymoon to St John and we've run into a snag. She and her fiance are 24 and the companies we've found online only rent to those over 25. He commanded a unit in Iraq but can't rent a car?? Anyone have advice on who to call?

Call them dirc. alot of them will wave it or there will be a small up charge for the extra ins.

My 24 year old daughter reserved a car at the airport---one of the big name companies, I can find out which one.

We had the same problem a couple of years ago. We couldn't find a rental on St. John since we were only 23, but we were able to rent from Dependable Car Rental on St. Thomas. They picked us up from the airport and drove us to their agency and even gave us a discount since it was our honeymoon. Just had to drive to the ferry dock and get on the car ferry. It was easy and we are using them again on this trip.

From what I understand, all of the rental companies on St. John follow this rule. As others have said, the couple can rent the vehicle on St. Thomas & take the car ferry.

(Off the record: My 23-year-old son -- the best driver in the family, by far -- did plenty of the driving on our visit!)

Try discount car rental. Not sure of their policy, but they have always been accommodating to us!
