OMG... the vacation from Hell! Get your dad a centerpunch with a chain so he can wear it around his neck in case of emergencies.

Seriously though, I hear there are Jumbies in that area! Did your dad do anything to piss 'em off?

Are you sure it was Penn's? They are across the street from, as well as down the hill from, the Lumberyard? Just don't want to see someone or some company dissed that doesn't deserve it.

bluegirl - Wow, that really did suck. You couldn't make that stuff up.

Well, at least I know that if anything ever goes wrong on my vacation, I can come back here and read your horror story, and then I'll feel much better.

Thanks for sharing.

I needed that laugh this morning! Thanks!

I am so sorry for all of the craziness of the trip though! I lost our jeep key on our last trip out at Waterlemon. We were tired thirsty and halfway back to the jeep when I realized the key wasn't in the pocket of my shorts. We walked back to the spot where our stuff was and it was right there...we were so lucky and my husband didn't even flinch. He's a gem!

Can't wait to hear about your dad's gift and meeting the new family member.

Look on the bright side, at least your husband is generous enough to help your dad, mine seriously would have said "sorry, dumba_s, deal with it your self and take a cab back to Hawksnest, I am on vacation."

My family travelled a lot when I was growing up and what you described is EXACTLY the type of thing my dad would have done. In addition, he is the type spend money to say money (you know the type, will drive 20 miles out of the way to save a penny a gallon on gas) so I can remember some pretty interesting vacation situations.

Might the moral of the story be "sometimes adults are more difficult than children.....?"

Can I just say OMG! I feel for you. I totally would have been bawling like a baby, but the way you wrote about your pathetic unfortunate-ness, was seriously one of the funniest things I have read in a long while. Hope the next trip goes off without a hitch!
