Private land taxi & Private water taxi

Post by theshopper3 »

So I am trying to figure out the most cost efficient way for the 6 of us to get from STT to STJ...

So do we take a private taxi to CA & then the ferry to STJ, or do we take a private taxi to RH & a private water taxi to STJ???

We didn't keep all of our costs from out last trip to compare. I know the taxi is cheaper to CA, but the ferry is more, & that the taxi is more to RH but the ferry is cheaper.

I guess the real ?? is, is it more cost efficient/less of a hassle to do the private transportation when you have 6 people sharing???

I beleive we paid $60.00 for the taxi from RH to the airport last time.

Thanks

PS, needed to see my ticker, it has been way to long :D

I'd suggest the private taxi all the way to Red Hook and then a water taxi over.

Private taxi for 6 people = $90 (No waiting, no stops, no extra charge for luggage)

Water Taxi is $130 (No waiting, no stops, no extra charge for luggage, you can have a beer on the way!)

I wouldn't recommend the CA pick-up. I think your time/cost savings are greater just going to Red Hook.

P.S. I took the water taxi rates from www.dolphinshuttle.com

We recently did just what verve said. With just the two of us we have always done the public taxi/ferry route. We had 6 of us last time (other forumites)to share the cost and I thought it worked out great. It was a little more expensive, but the convenience was worth it. We used Dolphin and they were professional and reliable.

For our group (5 or 6 people each year), I think we ended up paying a $6-7 per person extra going private. We have done this for three years and will be doing it again in Feb.
