Villa Rate discounts

Post by jayseadee »

HI,

Is it OK to ask for a discount on a villa? Has anyone tried?

I know there are a lot of last minute specials, but I don't have patience to wait for the last minute; even though there is usual a ton of availability during off-season.

Just wondering if this is acceptable.

In my way of thinking it is always OK to ask for a discount. All they can say is no. It never hurts to let the business that you are working with know that you are looking elsewhere for rates and ask if that is the best rate they can give you.

Im my business, folks ask me about discounts and special rates every day. Im not at all offended. I always offer any specials up front. Some places will only give you the deal if you ask...so always ask! All they can say is, no, no specials going on right now.

Dear Janet,

To answer your question; we personally welcome people who wish to ask for a discount. Many times we will say no, however depending on the time of year, how large the discount, and the likelihood of booking an empty week we will sometimes accept an offer.

As long as it's someone who is going to take good care of our home, it's always better to have the villa occupied rather than keeping it empty.

FYI, we currently have a 20% discount for a last minute Dec 20th - 26th trip. It sure would make someone a nice last minute Christmas gift.

Kind Regards,

Larry

If you don't ask, you might miss! VIVA! gives a 10% discount on villas they manage for returning renters;you must pay by check. That's dinner at La Tapa for four with wine!

It is definitely OK. I did not even know to ask for a discount and assumed since it is high season that discounts would be out of the question and we would have to stay at a less expensive place instead of our first choice, but the agent offered us one because we were staying for 10 nights instead of just a week. It can't hurt to ask.
