Day 2: JOST another day in paradise

Post by mbw1024 »

Woke up to a lovely view of the harbor this morning.
I really liked the Gallows property. Great location to access town if you want to be in the middle of things.
I had the chance to see one of the harbor upper views and I would definitely choose that next time. I love the harbor view but it may not be for everyone. Noise wasn't any issue for us.

This was our day to take the ferry to Jost. It was one of the few things we "planned" since it was this day or no day to make the trip.

Brenda and Gary, Jost ferry veterans, agreed to let us tag along with them and show us the ropes. The ferry ride over was really nice. We cleared customs on the West End of Tortola and then headed over to Jost. Brenda always uses a certain taxi driver there (I forget his name now) so we hopped in his cab and headed to White Bay. We got there pretty early and the beach was nearly empty. It's a beautiful location and painkillers for breakfast are not a bad thing on occassion! :)
We enjoyed walking the beach, hitting a few bars and floating in the water with our cocktails.
Jay and Debbie and Mary and Eric (Naturegirl and husband) were out on Lion in Da Sun for the day and they arrived on White Bay just as we were getting ready to head out back to the ferry.
It was a great way to spend the day and here are some of the sights from our day:

The ferry back to STJ was a little late but I think we were back on island around 4-4:30. Since we were at Gallows for only 2 nights we thought it would be a good time to take advantage of walking to Zozo's. We had a 6:30 dinner reservation but we went over to the bar around 5:45 or so for pre dinner cocktails and the sunset.

Dinner was excellent and was one of my favorite meals. For starters we had calamari with a pesto aioli and the bruschetta of the day - that was beef tenderlion with carmalized onions and spinach and goat cheese.

Entree for me was oven roasted swordfish over white beans topped with crispy beets. My word was this good!
Charlie had a special which was almond crusted grouper over a vegetable hash.

We ended the meal sharing a chocolate torte and some port.
It was really an excellent evening. Then we headed back to 10A and enjoyed the breezes on our balcony. A great ending to a great day.

Hey Marybeth, we did the same trip on the ferry to Jost last year to the day! Isn't it a great way to spend the day?! Did you see Foxy?

"Tagged along?" We were in that adventure together all the way. You got some excellent pictures on Jost. Did you happen to get one of Gary and I to post? Those are great pics of Zo-Zo's food. The Bruschetta looked really good.

Too funny that we had the same apps at Zozo's. Of course our bruschetta of the day was different but still :) Great minds.

It really is a shame that you don't look like you are having any fun!

you know what. somehow I lost pictures from Jost. I cleared my card while we were at Gallows and something went wrong with the laptop in the middle of the upload. I didn't realize I lost things until a few days later when I was looking for that picture of Gary on the swing. Sorry about that!

Ahh...walking to Zozos, sitting at the bar, enjoying a sunset and their awesome bruschetta...

Your TR turn around time is awe inspiring.

Are you going to keep up naming the days of the TR using this quasi-song title method? (Tom Petty and Phil Collins so far...)

Mary Beth I love, love, love the photo of the palm frond - fabulous report as always :)

Pia

ps: we just missed you at Sun Dog on Sunday as hubby was also flying Stateside on Sunday and we ate there before he caught the ferry :) I put 2 and 2 together when my friend who works at Best Of Both Worlds was talking about the young couple who's flight had been delayed 3 hours :( I bet you were at the airport at the same time (he was held hostage in the Spirit area and didn't venture out  )
