Six on the Beach Days 7 and 8- FINAL report

Post by sea-nile »

Day 7 Friday

Today I went on the 4 hour dive trip with 6 paq scuba. Bug brought me to the VI National Park dock at 9 am. She went back to the villa to get the others.
The rest of them went shopping and to lunch. They shopped and bar hopped and had lunch at Sun Dog cafe. The plan was to go to Cinnamon Bay when my trip was over at supposedly 1:30.

I was on the boat with 2 other couples. One of the couples was getting their certification and the other couple was already certified. First we snorkeled some while the boat had to go back and get a mask. Then we went to 2 dive spots, Congo and Mingo. It was awesome! I am hooked now and will probably get certified, however it may be lonely since I have to do it alone. Colette was a great teacher and I was so glad that I got to do something that I have been dreaming of doing for so long!
I can't wait to do it again and I hope that at next year's ??OTB trip that there is someone in the group who will go with me.

Sorry for all of the pictures..but I was so excited about it!!!!

Our boat got back late due to the mask delay. I felt bad that the others had to wait on me for over an hour. Betty was already at Cinnamon and they couldn't get in contact with her because her cell wasn't working. She had enough beach so she went back to the villa and we went to Gibney. We just stayed and swam and enjoyed the beautiful beach.

I tried to make a Bud Light commercial, but it came out blurry...

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sea-nile/2074299763/" title="STJ Nov 07 380 by jtmmrut, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2086/207 ... 12ee7c.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="STJ Nov 07 380"></a>

Bug went to get sandwiches in town and we had dinner on the beach. It was very relaxing.
Then we stopped in town so I could pick up my hook bracelet that I had ordered.

Back to the villa and in the hot tub. I made a pitcher of our Sex (six) on the beach drink (X-Island girl's winning recipe). We had sips of it in the hot tub.
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sea-nile/2074299767/" title="STJ Nov 07 391 by jtmmrut, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2296/207 ... 9395ea.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="STJ Nov 07 391"></a>

The sunset was hazy. I was feeling sad because I had to leave tomorrow.
But it was a great week!

Day 8 Saturday

We were up early for the walk of woe day.
These pictures were taken right before we left:

TEXAS Girls!

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sea-nile/2074303453/" title="STJ Nov 07 401 by jtmmrut, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2331/207 ... a6af58.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="STJ Nov 07 401"></a>

Good Bye SEA FOREVER!!

We headed to town and ate at JJ's Texas Coast Cafe. I had the breakfast burrito- yum!

Lisa said she wanted her picture taken with Lindy.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sea-nile/2049515183/" title="STJ Nov 07 404e by jtmmrut, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2200/204 ... e5fd47.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="STJ Nov 07 404e"></a>

We visited Ruth at St. John Spice and bought some things. A few of us were using the bathroom and almost missed the ferry.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sea-nile/2049515189/" title="STJ Nov 07 406 by jtmmrut, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2129/204 ... 03083f.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="STJ Nov 07 406"></a>

We couldn't write our names in the sand because the tide was too high, so Ruth took our picture on the ferry.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sea-nile/2050310860/" title="sotb leaving STJ 3 by jtmmrut, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2254/205 ... 90817e.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="sotb leaving STJ 3"></a>

We took the downtown CA ferry so we could go to lunch in STT and do a little shopping.
I can't remember where we had lunch.

Then off to the airport.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sea-nile/2072020457/" title="index_001 by jtmmrut, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2021/207 ... d600_o.jpg" width="640" height="480" alt="index_001"></a>

I was the last to leave.
I had a gorgeous sunset from the plane and I tried to take a picture... of course.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sea-nile/2050310868/" title="STJ Nov 07 294 by jtmmrut, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2231/205 ... 6a525e.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="STJ Nov 07 294"></a>

Closing thoughts:

I can't wait to go back!!
I can't wait to SCUBA dive again.
Highlights of the trip for me were the boat trip with Rev Stu and of course the diving.
I met some new friends that like what I do... STJ!
It was great meeting more people from the forum!

We had some nicknames for everyone:

Bug is "Bug". It fits her perfectly. Her quote: "I am what I am" and she doesn't care what anyone else thinks. She knows everyone in Cruz Bay and everyone loves her. She was great! She was our accountant and had a spread sheet to keep all expenses straight and fair. That was great and worked out perfectly!

VaGirl- Susan said she was quiet, but I really didn't think so. I am kind of that way too and I get where she is coming from... She is great and was the senior member of the group but let me tell you she can party with the best of us. I totally can relate to her because she reminds me of my Mom (not the age, just the personality). :D

CypressGirl (Deb): What can I say? I have told her my innermost secrets more than anyone else. We have e-mailed each other a lot in the last 9 months. She is great and I feel a real connection with her. She hooked us up with Rev Stu and the boat trip and that was great! We just called her Deb, or Gilligan. :D

BeecypressTx- Lisa- was the lurker, quiet person and then when we met her, WOW, not quiet at all and what a comedian! She is SO funny and great!
I am sure she will have something witty to add to these comments. Come on, Lisa, log on and quit lurking! Her husband lurks too and know all about us.

Betty (Beth)- Mom is what we called her. She arrived a day early had dinner ready the first night and groceries bought and made sure we wiped up our wet feet. She Started this whole thing so we have to be grateful to her for this wonderful idea. She became ill during the trip and had to skip some of the activities. Thanks Betty for a wonderful idea that sounds like next year will be a real blow out!

As far am I am concerned Sea-nile (Terese), the others will have to fill you in. I don't think I was as quiet as I thought I would be. The others thought that the name sea-nile was not fitting for me, which I guess is good. I was called a "hippie" by CypressGirl, whatever that means and RickG thought I was more of a one on one person which is probably right. I had such a great time and I did feel totally comfortable with all of these women and everyone I have met in STJ, I guess because it is the place, the island, that I have been looking for my whole life and now I have found it.

The End

I can't wait until next year!!!!!!

Great writing Terese. I could hear your narrator voice through the whole story. I was smiling at Lisa's pictures, she was starting to get tan! Lisa, you need two weeks on island next time.

I'm up for diving with you next Fall. I'm certified, but hardly ever dive for lack of a buddy (newbies are best!). Great photos.

See ya on the island!

Cheers, RickG

Sea-nile - I have tears in my eyes because it is ending and because of your beautiful writing. (((HUGS)))

I can't wait for next year, so I can play with y'all.

Can a newbie to the diving? I've not done it before but have been itching to do it. Let me know the process. :)

The picture that Ruth took of you all on the ferry is a keeper and says it all!!

Sea-nile - what a great report. I loved the picture of the 6 empty chairs by the pool - and of course the one by the ferry.

With a little encouragement, I could be talked into diving with you. I'm certified but haven't done any diving in a long while. I'd need a refresher course or something.

Soooo looking forward to joining in the fun next year; can't wait to see how you describe us "newbies"
