Short trip report
Short trip report
We just got back from St. John. I am in withdrawel-island-wise and I am sure the lack of alcohol will kick in soon.
We have been to St. John many times in late June. This was the first time we went this time of year. We loved the cool night air and beach breezes. But the snorkeling was much different. Not so many fish. Good snorkeling, but nothing like the summer.
Also so surprised about the heavy surf, especially at Cinnamon. The only quiet beach we visited wave-wise was Salt Pond.
And at the villa the pool water was freezing! We barely used it.
Is it always this cool this time of year? Almost too cool for me. Although the walks back to the jeep after the beach were MUCH more pleasant!
We had a great time. High points: Skinny Legs blue cheese burger, pain killers and tuna bites at the beach bar, Sogos vegetable plate, Candys ribs and chicken. Kids loved the waves at Cinnamon. Beautiful views from our villa (Serenity) on Maria Bluff. Fun hike to Drunk Bay (much more fun than during the sumer heat) We actually spent time there instead of just getting there and dying of heat.
Anyways, great trip and we are sad to be home as always.

You were getting the northern swells. Read they come in like clock work normally in November. Was worried we would get them when we were there the first week of November. Got lucky didn't get any until our last day at Trunk, the waves were rockin that day. I also noticed not as many fish as the summer, no turtles either.
