Direct flight from EWR to STT (via Continental)

Post by SusanNJ »

Hi all. I usually take the direct flight that Continental offers on Saturdays from Newark, NJ to St. Thomas. I am starting to check for next year (Oct.) - yes I know its a ways off yet, but didn't see this flight offered anymore. It looks as though after August it is not offered. Does anyone know if Continental is discontinuing this service?

Susan, are you sure you're looking just too far in advance at 11 months? I know it's not as far as yours, but I was looking at April and June dates and they were still there albeit ridiculously expensive.

Hey Susan, I remember when I was planning my wedding in Tortola and I looked for airfare really far in advance...a lot of airlines just won't post the itinerary that far out. Its really annoying! I forget how many months out they do it -if its like 8 mos or something. Not sure tho.

Our pals are booked on the EWR-STT flight on CO for Aug 9 2008. Sat-Sat. (I work for a company who's really heavy into acronyms)

They got it for $300 - $350

I wasn't going to book it just yet, I just like to look at the fares and watch them either go up or down.

I was just surprised how after August there aren't any direct Sat. - Sat. flights. I just hope it is too far in advance right now (and not that they are discontinuing that flight)

Looks like other flights are listed that far out, like the ones through San Juan to get to STT, but just not the direct flight on CO's web site.
We do also hope they won't discontinue the flight.

I did contact Continental directly and this was their response:

Thank you for your email regarding future service to St. Thomas.

I checked with our International Support Desk, on your behalf, and was advised that we have not received any information regarding pulling out of the St. Thomas market. Just as you did, we do not show the non-stop flight loaded in the computer. We have sent an email to our scheduling department to advise them of this.

Thank you for your inquiry with Continental Airlines.

We are on the direct late August of next year. I guess we got lucky that it was in the computer! Last time (well, our only time), we flew from JFK. I can't wait to fly from Newark! JFK sucked donkey balls.

That's good to hear. Did you see Noreen's similar post over the weekend?
