our chosen villas on eastend

Post by cinnyb »

These are the villas I chose for my son's wedding. They are on Hansen Bay. It will just be him and his bride in one and my husband, 15 year old daughter and I in the other. Ours-Cameron Cove, Theirs-Rebecca's Fancy. I found them on vrbo.com. Both owners seemed very nice and the villas are quite close to each other. Both are just a short walk to the beach and as a snorkeling bonus Pelican Rock is right there, too. Sloop's and Vie's are close by, also. Hopefully, being out that far won't be an issue. We don't really plan on going to Cruz Bay much. I think we will enjoy this area alot.

Anybody familiar with either one or stayed near by?

How nice to be so close to a beach! Have not seen either one but they look very nice on the web site. Happy wedding planning

Those houses look nice and that's a fun area. Coral Bay is an easy drive and Maho Bay and Francis Bay are just over the mountain. I think you'll love it.

Cameron Cove, with no a/c, may get a little warm in the afternoon. But a 2 minute walk to the beach solves that problem quickly.

Cheers, RickG

Has anyone ever looked at The Retreat in the East End and noticed the garage type doors:http://www.islandhideaways.com/villa.php?villa_id=10240

We stayed at Cameron Cove Ap 06.
It was new to the market then, so maybe a couple of minor issues we had may have been ironed out by now, namely a really cheap coffee maker prone to overflow, only one broken beach chair was available (forcing us to rent chairs), and the small portable “hot tub” sitting on the deck outside the MB was uninviting. With no A/C, it did get warm on still days, available fans helped. Also recall the bed in MB was quite firm, and the bathroom for the second bedroom was actually nicer than the master bath.
But the villa/location/views are nice, especially if you are not planning to go into Cruz Bay much and are an avid snorkeler, as you can walk down to beach in 2 min for a snorkel out to Pelican Rock at any time of day. The snorkel around the point to the left has some good coral too.

Here are some photos

jmq-Thanks so much for responding. You were the only one who I had read had stayed there. I couldn't find your trip report about it so this really helps. The pictures give a little different perspective than some I have seen. Hopefully the bugs are worked out. Was the hot tub too warm, too small, not clean?

What was the fence to the left of driveway for? If you have any other insight to this villa, good snorkeling on east end or anything else I'd love to hear it. We haven't signed the contract yet, but I don't think these minor issues should change our mind. We will be there in April, too, hopefully it won't be too hot without AC. Owner did tell me she had beach chairs. Might not use the hot tub anyway, although I thought my daughter might like it. Thanks, again.

Glad I could help.

Fence is to keep goats out/from eating landscaping.

Hot tub was small.

One morning woke up pre-dawn by birds making racket around Pelican Rock so took ride up over new road above villa into new development area to watch dawn break over BVIs/Drake Channel.

Haulover North couple hills back towards Coral Bay yields excellent snorkel on calm day look so for that opportunity during your stay.

There was also this thread on accessing Newfound Bay (best by kayak) which is one or 2 bays over from Haulover North. Excellent snorkeling if you can get there.

P.S. PHX to STT cant be easy (or cheap)

eastend villas

You will enjoy the East End if you like a green and serene place. Altho if you come in dry season it may not be so green! It is quiet out here. If you like to swim hike and enjoy nature you will find all that here. If you like to sit in a bar and socialize Coral Bay is 12 minutes away. Plenty of restaurants there as well. If you go to this link you will find an aerial photo of the East End and a video road trip from the guys at On-ST.John, www.eastendstjohn.com
Oh and one last note, you can have the wedding on the beach in front of Cameron Cove!
