Waste Management Proposal

Post by SusanNJ »

A friend of mine forwarded me this via email, just terrible:

_____________________________________________________________________________________

This is something we all should know about. It will make our cost of living go even higher than it already is. Many people in St. Croix and St. John are really getting together to try to prevent this tax from going into effect. A lot of people I have spoken to in St. Thomas don't even know about it. We need to get the word out. Here is what was written in the St. John Times:

_____________________________________________________________________________________

The wast management authority is proposing to
TAX EVERY SINGLE THING THAT YOU EAT, DRINK, WEAR, SELL BUY OR USE!!!

If their plan is approved:
Milk could cost 19% more!
Flour could go up 14%
Rice could go up over 12%
Sugar almost 11%

'THE POOR WILL BE HURT THE MOST'

There is NO INCENTIVE to recycle or reuse, because you will pay for the 'TRASH' before you have even used it.

YOUR SEWER USE FEE WILL DOUBLE NEXT YEAR, AND THEN GO UP 15% A YEAR AFTER THAT. (Don't most of us have our own septic tanks???)

There are more efficient, less costly ways to manage our waste.

Please contact the PSC at 340-776-1291 or fax 340-774-4971 and tell them to
'VOTE NO' On the Waste Management Proposal.
